Absolute top tier DAC for standard res Redbook CD

Hi All.

Putting together a reference level system.
My Source is predominantly standard 16/44 played from a MacMini using iTunes and Amarra. Some of my music is purchased from iTunes and the rest is ripped from standard CD's.
For my tastes in music, my high def catalogues are still limited; so Redbook 16/44 will be my primary source for quite some time.

I'm not spending DCS or MSB money. But $15-20k retail is not out of the question.

Upsampling vs non-upsampling?
USB input vs SPDIF?

All opinions welcome.

And I know I need to hear them, but getting these ultra $$$ DAC's into your house for an audition ain't easy.

Looking for musical, emotional, engaging, accurate , with great dimension. Not looking for analytical and sterile.

I'm sorry grannyring, please forgive me, I just did not want everyone to believe I came up with those numbers of burn-in for the Esoteric K-01 player, I was only passing along what has been told to me over the last year from the forums concerning the burn-in proccess of the player, nor did I want to appear as if I was a liar, or did not know what I was talking about, or that I am OcD!, cheers.
The Overdrive DAC will likely not support DSD in the future. I have another DAC design in mind for DSD.

Matt, what specific DSD have you heard to date? Is it only the upsampling entities such as the Meitner or Directstream? Looks like you still need to hear the Aesthetix piece.

Also, next Saturday I'm picking up a 2013 Porsche Boxster S PDK/sport chrono pack/active suspension management & torque vectoring. Got it certified pre-owned for a steal!

I am sure your wife will be thrilled....;/
