Hey Mijostyn;
I had a pair of IMF (Irving Freed) Studio Monitors. the IMFs were serious
transmission line floor-standers from the late '60s - info down to 16 CPS
(oops - Hz) on the bottom. 12 " driver, and cab was 16' wide, as I recall.
Made me a fan. I'll check your suggestion out.
Dan; I'm interested in your crossover note: Investigation indicates
improving technology offers significant improvement over stock
Tannoy x-overs. Could you send pics or a schematic of your x-over mod to me?
Here's more info on my situation:
Room: 27'x 17', 8'H.; Fairly "live"; Kit: Oppo 95, resto Mac C-37,
resto MC-7270 (so I'm a Gordon Gow fan). Prefer a warmer, expansive
sound to a brighter, analytical one. Inclusive, rich orchestral over
hyper-definitive, close-miked.
Another question (too many?): Could you guys identify a couple of
top-level Tannoy resto sources? Several in England, but who needs the
shipping costs? This would be most helpful !
Your thoughts?
