Clearaudio " Innovation" - What?

Clearaudio has been around for a while and has quite a few well made models to cater for different ends of the vinyl market. I've noted their most recent models are called CA Innovation wood turntables which looks quite attractive where as I find most of their past acrylic models unappealing.

Calling their new model "Innovation" is a bit pretentious perhaps. I'm just wondering what true innovations has Clearaudio brought to the vinyl playback over the years? I'm curious to learn from those who has more knowledge on the subject.

The word ''Innovation'' is surely used only for marketing purposes and to generate some kind of reaction or attention. (Looks like it worked, right?) Whether there is true innovation or not is irrelevant in the marketing arena. It is the perception that counts, not the reality. Well, most of the time.
I think the "innovations" are the magnetic ceramic bearing and optical speed control. Google "Clearaudio Innovation Wood" and you'll find a review or two that discuss these things. Whether they're true innovations I couldn't tell you but they make for a damned fine sounding turntable.
In addition to the items wrm57 mentions, I think plinth construction on the higher-end models may represent innovations also.
