Ethernet

I am adding a HiFi Rose RS 130 to my set up and need to split my ethernet cable run...  Here is my question:  I have about a 20' run into the splitter , then 2 x 3' runs to the RS130 and a BluSound Vault.  I have been using a $20 ethernet Cat 5 cable on the BluSound Vault alone.  I am seeing (typical) ethernet runs for $7,000 to $1.50.  Where do I go here?  Primary goal is to make sure all 3 runs are identical and really NOT thinking of spending a ton here.  Thoughts?  Cat 5...6...7...?

Help !!

@mswale - exactly. Decent shielded and properly soldered cable, that's all. I am familiar with switching network protocols :-)

@antigrunge2 - please explain what is exactly "noise travels with packets" and how exactly does it affect the DAC. Packets are reassembled into bit sequence upon receive in the network card. There is no analog noise there. There is no noise in the CPU. No noise that would affect code execution.

I have no idea why they offer it, there are $1000 Ethernet "filters" so I am not surprised there are USB connectors with Japanese wood covers.

Once again - does Apple or Amazon use "special" cables? Is there difference in USB transfer speed to an external drive with and without separate power?

Blue Jeans is what you want. Anything over is a scam. Ask yourself - does Amazon (Tidal, etc) use $1000 Ethernet cables in their data centers? No? Why would you?

Cops in NYC ride around in Toyota Prius and Ford Explorer. I’m sitting here struggling with a decision - do I dump my BMW cause it’s a scam and get into a Prius or would Explorer be a better choice. After all it’s only a ride from point A to point B and it doesn’t really matter - I’ll reach my destination in a Prius just fine. I might be pissed off and in an extremely bad mood which would impact my productivity. But who cares. I’ll get stuff done anyway. Right? What do you think @mikhailark

Amazon, MSFT, Google etc don’t use copper but that’s besides the point.

When we’re talking about Ethernet or USB, being confident that the data will get from the source to the target if you’re using a cable that meets specifications and requirements doesn’t mean you understand how it is possible to control how Ethernet cable can impact the sound of your streamer. We’re not processing your refill of multi vitamins as part of your amazon order. We’re streaming music which is a completely different space and every component matters.
You just don’t know what you don’t know and that’s definitely not the hill I’m going to be dying on.
Do your research and figure it out.
