Freya + ( Plus ) Capacity Mods

Hey there folks,

Looks like there could be a cottage industry for Freya + mods. I recently read about some of them and am at least interested in the capacitor upgrade. Here's the article if you want to read about it.

Now comes the question: Who can do these mods safely and if they can be done  safely, can we establish the AMG equivalent of a Freya +?

Respectfully,

John

Hi Sid,

I read the same perspective at the link previously provided. I am not qualified to weigh in on the topic. What I'm hoping to learn is if there are qualified folks who would do this work and if so, who are they?

I ordered the caps and had the upgrade done. WOW! What a huge improvement. I highly recommended doing it!!!

Sure. What I notice is the reduced fatigue, even for recordings which are less than ideal (where I'm listening regularly). I attribute this to lower distortion in the mid to high frequency ranges and an improved crossover profile, at least as it pertains to my network and Maggie 1.7s. Some of this is likely exposed by the 6SN7 VT231GT tubes I'm running and some of this is also likely exposed by the Schiit Tyrs.

Future plans include an upgrade to Bluesound N130 from Fidelity Audio (I have the N130 plugged into a Schiit Bifrost 2 2/64) and eventually the Maggie 1.7s will be upgraded to the GR-Research crossover set.
