Boris!
J-Rock Bands
First time in a very long time. The only thing left are my Acoustats 2+2s Spectral DMC-10 Delta and DMA-50. I guess around 35 years old........oh yeah all MIT Oracle. Still sounds decent with Rega Apollo.
But anyway, for me at least, the last great rock bands were Nirvana and Dream Syndicate. Then nothing much except a few songs from Dead Ghosts. That is it. I got back into the garage bands of the 60s for the last 20 years for rock. Still the majority of time I listen to classical music from Machaut to Schnittke
About 3 weeks ago I found Band-Maid......wow!.........still have not figured them out yet....whether they are power pop, hard rock, or metal......perhaps they are all three. They are all females, most are classically trained. Kanami, the lead guitarist writes all the melodies and chord progressions. MISA, writes the bass line. Akane writes the drum lines and Miku and Saiki write the lyrics. Also between sets Miku does Omajinai-Time, sort of Japanese Vaudeville. Funny sometimes. Miku is the founder of the group, though at first she could only sing. Kanami taught her to play guitar. Kanami loves Santana but she can playfully ripoff Jimi Page or Slash. Band-Maid did open up for Guns n Roses last year. This year they had a US Tour. which ended only last month. This coming year they are invited to play at Rockville in Daytona Beach. I got my tickets already.
Also they have an alter ego band named Band-Maiko. They dress up in Geisha with white face, start out for 3 seconds traditional music then they go wild.
They make me feel like a kid again. Many of the comments on YT, say the same thing......."thought rock died and was never coming back unto I found Band-Maid"....
I have also heard BabyMetal, LoveBites, and Nemophila.......they are ok
