Long time music lover looking for new music.

Now I'm fast approaching the half century mark. I started listen to music as a kid playing my mom's 45. Beatles, Ricky Nelson, Elvis, Frank Sinatra etc. I've never stopped. I moved overseas 7 years ago and don't listen to the radio here. I'm looking for some new music especially Indie Rock.
Here are some that I found that I can recommend. Thanks to all of you that respond in advance.

Some I have found

Bat For Lashes - Two Suns
Bon Iver - For Emma, Forever Ago

Florence + The Machine "Lungs." This is going to spin a few times this weekend.
I think I'll print this thread and take it to National Record Day hunt tomorrow.
Nice list Bongofury. That will keep me busy for a while. I have already started on Heyitsmedustys. Good stuff. There is so much good new music coming out on small labels or self produced. It's nice to give them exposure as well. I think a lot more people would like to hear the stuff if they knew how to get it. Heyitsmedusty maybe you could tell them about the download site you told me about. $20 dollars a month is very fair for downloading a lot of new music.
Great thread! Not much time at the moment but a quick second for Cat Power. In line with some of the very best that have been mentioned and would seem to fit your taste well. Back with more later...

Oh and Sufjan Stevens too. If nothing else, listen to the song John Wayne Gasey Jr. from the Illinois record. Haunting, beautiful, creepy and powerful.

Mark Lanegan too!
