My ears of tin are over 50

I read on Jim Smith's site that if you’re past 50, you can no longer hear well enough to really care about your sound quality.

That explains my ears of tin over the past few years, I guess. It sounds kind of sad really if this is true.

Rgs92,

Curious what is your main system and speakers for audio?

Original Walsh 2s cannot compare to many newer designs in regards to overall refinement but the newer upgrades available for them can. I have heard the two side by side in my system for comparison, so I am quite certain about that.
Main system is EMM SE separates, Edge NL12.1, Harbeth SHL5s,
Stealth/Shunyata Cables.

"Its almost as if losing ability to hear the higher frequencies one can when younger facilitates an improved focus on what you can still hear."

I love the stories I hear occasionally about those who lose one sense and gain sensitivity in others to compensate.

"I consider myself fortunate that my ability to appreciate good sounding music has perhaps waxed and not waned with age.."

I resemble that remark. Thanks for sharing.
