Pro-Ject Stream Box S2 Ultra plus custom LPS+ linear power supply.

Hey all,

Have any of you tried this Raspberry Pi based streamer powered specifically by a custom-ordered Linear Tube Audio LPS+ linear power supply? The combination sounds absolutely fabulous. I read on the LTA website about a user who used a custom-ordered LPS+ to power the highly-regarded Pro-Ject stand-alone CD drive and loved that combo. For $650 shipped it’s hard to beat the LPS+

Nicholas at LTA is a great guy to work with, and there is no extra charge for LTA to customize an LPS+ to match any voltage/amperage one may need. They even customize their high quality DC umbilical cable to match the unit one wants the LPS+ to power.

+1 to a screen being superfluous. The best screen to control a streamer is an iPad sitting next to you, not an LCD screen on a streamer sitting 8 feet away.

I compared the top Sonore LPS, Teddy pardo, a Farad 3,newer S booster which btw came in last , and a Paul Hines which recently went out of business ,all new within 18 months old

with a Sonore ultra Rendu ,

the Linear Tube Audio , is the. Best- most musically natural  under $1k LPS I have ever heard ,one thing to mention having been into modding for years the LTA using the Worlds best Belleson regulators which says a lot they are 2-3 x the monies others use and can be made to your specs I was told . I just ordered one myself  use with my Sonore optical deluxe .

I really like my Project Stream Box S2 Ultra.

I’d read one of the reviews saying John Westlake’s design made a seperate power supply would have little to no effect (I think the reviewer had tried the battery Project power supply). So for 18 months used the standard SMPS.

Nearer to the end than the beginning of upgrades, started thinking about this again. Decided on a Teddy Pardo MiniTeddy. Small footprint, reasonable reviews, decent price, good communication.

The MiniTeddy is a good improvement powering the Stream Box S2 Ultra. Now has 250 hours on it, so will have a decent listen tomorrow.
