Subwoofer for two channel system

I love my stereo system. It includes the following:

Rowland Synergi IIi preamp
Rowland M201 amps
Cal Audio Labs CL-10 multi disk
Meridian 588 CD player
B & W N802 speakers
Reimyo DAP-777 DAC

I am very interested in adding one or a pair of subwoofers to the system but I do not want to mess with the sound too much. Just add a bit bass to make it perfect. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,
You should try the Velodyne SPL-1200. its 1500 watts amp. I have one for about 2 years now and beleive me, I have tried a lot of subs, still go back to my Velodyne. Good for music and also movies. Bought for $1,200 new. Used will run you about $800.to $700.00 .Thanks.

I use a VSA-VRS1 ocassionally for stereo, it is an excellent sub for this purpose and really kicks it for HT as well. It seems like the B&W sub ought to be a place to start for integration. Interesting that the 802 and even 801 speakers go to just under 40.
With your N802, I wonder how much more bass do you need. But if you really want to try it, you can check out the REL Stadium or Storm. Talk to your local shop and have them loan you the sub for home trial. They should have no problem with it. You never know until you try them with your system, right?

I suspect that you probably want to set the sub at a relatively low crossover point (e.g. 30hz or so) to get the last bit that you are looking for without "messing with the sound too much"

Just my 2 cents.
