The new cartridge from Acoustical Systems may finally be the LOMC to fully realise the theoretical advantages of the genus. And convince those long-suffering audiophiles to whom the 'modern' MC presentation has been anathema to 'live sound'....that the realism of vintage LOMCs like the SPUs and FR-7 series has finally been recaptured 👀 IMAGE 1 IMAGE 2 IMAGE 3 IMAGE 4 IMAGE 5 IMAGE 6 IMAGE 7
Fleib, It's telling that your only example of the move away from Rule by Law is the actions of Greenpeace. As for the rest of your random shots, where did they come from, and where are they going? Anyway, we are all under stress right now, and perhaps it's therefore a bad time to talk politics. The Palladian is much less controversial, good, bad or indifferent. I suspect it's at least quite good, because I respect the collective opinions of those who are listening to it.
Raul, When you studied my system did you realize that it has an analogue and a digital bass amplification? - and it is not a copy as you assumed before, completely different to the Vox Olympian. Just study the images on the speakers, X-over and amps.
Dear @thuchan : "
have the chance to hear the Palladian - not only talking from the distance without experience - I would take your comments more serious. "
maybe the problem is taht you and me are talking of different audio subjects.
What I posted as answers to your touted BASS post has nothing relative with cartridges but with BASS, this was and is the main subject in our dialogue.
You are not a stupid person as other ones and I know this for sure.
Think on the bass main subject as a MUSIC/sound home system reproduction and that's it.
You can't never achieve a true and precise system evaluation bass qualuity performance level using analog only DIGITAL.
Dear Nandric, Maybe you are more realistic than me. On the other hand I have met in Mexico wonderful people, not only the beautiful young ladies, and also not the drug related guys... who knows, maybe Raul gets enlighted one day. You should never give up hope.
It could be that it is Trump's hidden dream to become statue in Mexico - not sure on which side of the wall...
Dear Dover, You are so right, that might be the most realistic scenario...
thucan/nandric A little patience is required. I am sure that in 23 years Raul will discover a rare second hand vintage MC cartridge known as the Palladian, that with rubber suspension suitably baked and cured in an equatorial environment, and a fine diamond carefully honed and polished by 23 years of Conway Twitty records, the Palladian will be rediscovered as the best cartridge ever made, better even perhaps than any MM ! .. almost as good as digital. Indeed. You heard it here, first.
Raul, You seem to care. That's why you always come back on this. Be assured if you would have the chance to hear the Palladian - not only talking from the distance without experience - I would take your comments more serious.
Dear @thuchan : I don't care about your friends. I know you very well better that you can think and know your audio priorities and that's why I posted here what I posted.
I think that you don't want to follow with me this specific dialogue about your system and I don't want it but is up to you.
Raul, Everyone who has listened to my system and has carefully studied the way of bass implementation in my system on Audiocirc knows that your outside view is not really qualifying you.
Dear @thuchan : The home audio system bass quality level performance has only tw paths: it performs good or it performs in wrong way.
No one needs to hear this or that cartridge with this or that recording to post what you posted.
It's obvious for me that with that kind of post your system bass performance is not good enough and as I told you I don't even have to listen your system.
After a live event/MUSIC the only tool in a home system that we have to know if the bass is good or wrong is trhough the digiatl alternative: CD, period.
Raul, I have already seen all the wonderful places in Mexico.Thanks. You may invite Mr. Trump convincing him that free trade and not building up walls and censorship may be the better way - if that matches with your philosophy too??
Regarding the Palladian you should hear it first. Then you will change your assessment in case you are disburdened of historical experiences.
Dear @thuchan : """
If you ever wanted to know how a bass should sound you need that combination..."""
NO, if you want to know how bass should sound what you need is to listen it in a near field position played LIVE .
What define the home system quality bass level performance is not a " cartridge/LP " combination but the overall room/system combination that at least I do not know for sure the quality you have in your system. I have only an idea because the diferent system audio links you have especially on the analog front end and speakers but in some ways electronics too.
This is for you only and with all my humble attitude and in good shape: if you want to know how should sound the bass in a home system take a fligth to my place to listen it and an additional bonus is that you can visit some interesting tourist places that exist in México.
Back to Palladian and away from Leonard... Just listened to Stanley Clarke's SchoolDays, in the 2011 Sony (Epic) version, mastered from the original tapes, with the Palladian. If you ever wanted to know how a bass should sound you need that combination...
Flieb, I wish I knew what you were trying to say in your comment on males v females. And then the attribution to Neobop. Is this something once written by Neobop?
Dare I respond? No one said or says that males and females are precisely equal biologically. What is sought by justifiably insistent females is equality of treatment in a work environment, as well as freedom from sexual harassment or the power to take corrective action if harassment occurs. Is that so wrong?
Leonard Cohen's lyrics have taken us off the subject of the Palladian, for sure.
The conformist champ who now leading the not so obvious matrix of reality, unknowingly offers all the guns & ammo. The "natural order of things" would be slightingly deformed, nostalgia will be aggressively prosecuted and as we speak, we have already choose side.
Men happen to be a minority on this planet. Men are discriminated against, by the politically correct women who want to dominate.
Males mature later than females and their inattention in early grades penalizes them by overworked and underpaid teachers. Men and women are obviously not equal. This has nothing to do with equal pay.
Methinks we have strayed from the natural order of things.
Chris, I would amend your "audiophilic rules" in one way: Audiophiles seek change, even when they ARE already happy.
It's much like what Jerry Seinfeld said about the male propensity for channel surfing when watching TV: "Men don't want to know what's on; they want to know what ELSE is on."
If you are the dealer, I'm out of the game If you are the healer, it means I'm broken and lame If thine is the glory then mine must be the shame You want it darker We kill the flame
Magnified, sanctified, be thy holy name Vilified, crucified, in the human frame A million candles burning for the help that never came You want it darker
Hineni, hineni I'm ready, my lord
There's a lover in the story But the story's still the same There's a lullaby for suffering And a paradox to blame But it's written in the scriptures And it's not some idle claim You want it darker We kill the flame
They're lining up the prisoners And the guards are taking aim I struggled with some demons They were middle class and tame I didn't know I had permission to murder and to maim You want it darker
Hineni, hineni I'm ready, my lord
Magnified, sanctified, be thy holy name Vilified, crucified, in the human frame A million candles burning for the love that never came
You want it darker We kill the flame
If you are the dealer, let me out of the game If you are the healer, I'm broken and lame If thine is the glory, mine must be the shame You want it darker
Nandric Dear Chris, I am checking those virgins before posting to Dertonarm.
When I read this........I think I peed my pants .........just a little bit
Doctor Nikola, I posted on the ET2 thread that I feel I missed my calling with the occupation I chose. As an obvious master of multiple occupations, may I ask what brings you more satisfaction - being a Doctor or a King ?
Nandric, The world is full of promises 😢 You may be a serious addressee for the Titanium screws. Others were offending my offer and asked succesfully for deleting my post. I am a bit puzzled now but happy that you finally have succeeded in getting some for free. Was thinking about sending the last Cohen LP to Ct0517 as it is really something different than any digital format in this case. But as I am learning I thought it could lead to a further deletion...sorry Chris!
Ha, no free 💰 screws for me 😺 (or will that comment get me censored) -- and I've not even had a response from the distributor yet as to how I can buy them! But maybe the New Year will bring me gifts 😏
Dear Nikola. I feel my time remaining on this thread is short, as I am starting to feel the penetration of internet laser beam stares through my teflon armor from the Palladian/Cohen lovers. So I will be brief in reply to your last post.
Firstly however - I think you should send out a search party for Raul. he seemed to have gone missing.
So fess up - how many virgins did you have to send Dertonarm for the screws. Are you his favorite or is Bluewolf and Folkfreak also receiving them?
So I am searching for this ''tension wrench''
Keep looking in your bag. Its probably hidden in the bottom, maybe under one of the flaps.
thanks for that info Folkfreak. you certainly live up to your moniker/avatar. :^)
I think my favorite folk singer is probably Alison Krauss, but I also realize she's a favorite for many, so needs to be shared. :^( My Canadian IP address keeps me from accessing the last three American urls in your last post. Ironically, I have the same problem sometimes trying to get Lp's of American artists I like, ordered on this side of the border. I wonder if your new president will make this situation worse or better for Canadian music lovers ? hah , hah Cheers Chris
Which is very reminiscent of the version form MCC's live CD "Party Doll" which I use as a test track for live sounding band play
Among Mary Chapin's other CD only releases my favorite is "Between Here and Gone" with "Goodnight America" an excellent test of a system's ability to cope with a well produced but busy mix and "Grand Central Station" just a deeply moving song ....
Hi Folkfreak I discovered MCC by fluke a few years ago with Stones In The Road. A very nice surprise for me. I prefer this album to Come on, Come On. The lead up from John Doe #24 to Jubillee to Outside looking In - never fails to give me a better outlook (what I strive for), no matter what may have been inflicted on me earlier that day. My goal for 2017 is to continue what I started in 2016. To get through and learn 3k + mostly classical records that I added to my LP stash. I was faced with an enormous challenge when these came through the front door. So I asked, actually (pleaded) for help from the members here in how best to assimilate and integrate these records.
Henry, sorry for the shameless thread plug, but if anyone is a classical aficionado, your ideas are most welcome here.
I could not have made the progress I have made so far in this short time without the members help. Folkfreak thanks for the heads up on the new lp.
Hi Geoch (Giorgos) The JN TT is parked in Room 2 - unplugged - future unknown. Platine/with Custom ET 2.5 continues to run the show. You know, if Analog was like Digital, according to my contacts still on a 2 year business cycle with new product out every couple of years, and prices slashed on previous generations; then I probably would have a bigger desire to sell it but.....as long as Analog turntables/tonearms/carts even Palladian (correct me if I am wrong here owners), still use records pressed on the same machines that are 50+ years old; then I don’t see the value difference between analog and digital changing much. Very pleased with my DAC and digital, but once vinyl hits the platter it stays on vinyl.
Since I've sold my Proac Response 5/Goldmund Mimesis 7/8.4monos (back on 1997) I can only hear this on headphones. I remember the first time I heard it, was when I put the Goldmund Lineal interconnect / Cardas Hexlink Golden 5c speaker cables in the chain. It was not an easy task and till today, perhaps a handful of the set-ups I know, can express this bass pedal. I'm trying these days with DIY class D stereo subs (programmable x-over) and I'm almost close to succeed.
@ct0517 if you like Mary Chapin I hope you got her latest "The Things That We Are Made Of" on Vinyl -- well worth it for "Note on a Windshield" alone. My favorite of her LPs is "Come On, Come On" which is rare as hens teeth on vinyl but well worth tracking down
@geoch -- bass pedal on "Cinema Show" even more distinct! My Q3s do a fair job of getting it out but I'm sure I'm not getting that trouser flapping effect I could do with even bigger speakers
Geoch (and I was wondering ... why you suddenly stop mail me ...)
My apologies - every spring I haul my a-- out of my rooms downstairs, and head north to reunite with the Bears. I could say that the terrain is treacherous with very bad internet signal, and it is true. But the real reason is the Bears don’t like me emailing, and they can be persuasive. Besides I believe email is becoming obsolete soon. In fact the soon to be leader of the free world just told us this morning, that no computer is safe ..........there u go *^)
My advice was beeswax/lead balls. You make your own decision once it was easily reversible, without asking and then you told me back the results. But truth is ... you didn’t follow my advice
Audiophile Rule # 2.
Never attempt "anything" that is not reversible. For the simple reason of Rule #1.
Rule # 1 - Audiophiles are never happy and constantly seek change.
Oh, If anyone seeing this needs any Blue Tack, I still have lots.... I can still picture the nice ladies face at the Wal-mart checkout, when I clearing the store of all their Blue Tack stock back then. Her comment to me with a funny look on her face - "Sir, you do realize this is not on sale" Ah, the moments we need to endure to be an audiophile....:^(
Palladian Tip
Owners may put a bit on your torque wrench to help install and remove those expensive titanium screws. Never lose one in the carpet.
Dear Chris, NO! I never done this. Never! I’m terribly sorry to hear that but, it seems you really don’t remember what I’ve said back then! I haven’t told you specifically to avoid blue tack. I’d assumed you knew! On the headshell, even the slightest portion, produces an unmusical - dead sounding effect. My advice was beeswax/lead balls. You make your own decision once it was easily reversible, without asking and then you told me back the results. But truth is ... you didn’t follow my advice (and I was wondering ... why you suddenly stop mail me ...) Anyway I don’t believe that stopping the (don’t tell please) pillars from ringing can save the situation. Hope you stop messing around with this any more and start to exploring your TJN Ref.
Mary Chapin Carpenter is one real hottie, and one of my audio girlfriends, I mean, just so you understand ...... We also happen to share the same birthday. Mary and I. fwiw & imo - This brings a bigger bond in music ......more so than any mono tone scratchy lyrics are going to bring you.... 8^0 Don't take my word for it. Ask one of my fraternal twins. Holly Cole - now there is a Canadian voice I can get behind.

Geoch (Giorgos) - very appropriate lyrics. Thanks for that. It took about 9 months for me to realize the chains were no longer there. btw. do you remember years ago - our conversation...it ended as.... yeah go ahead, and fill the four pillars of the TNT with BlueTack ....and see what happens. Talk about resonating voices from the Dark Side. These voices had horns.

DG ( Dave) - I would like to comment on your elegant post, but can't for fear of being egg'ed.
