Trip down memory lane

Today I bought a Garrard 80C changer like the one that introduced me to HiFi in 1953 IIRC, when I was 17. It has a GE variable reluctance cartridge like that used to play the Capital Full Dimensional Sound vinyl so many years ago. The changer is in remarkably good condition given its age, and the seller says it’s functional, a claim I don’t expect to verify. I’ll display it as an icon along with my Thorens TD 124 and Technics SL 1200 II while enjoying music via the convenience of Roon.

That's pretty strange. You use turntables only as decoration while you stream music? There are prettier things...
If you equate icon with decoration it would be strange.  Prettiness isn't the point of my collection.  192/24 streamed via Ethernet to my Ayre QX-5 Twenty is nothing to sneer at.
I get that. So why do you need the turntable at all, let alone three of them?
