I have had both in my system, and the Vandersteen 3A Sig remains. I found the B&W N804 to be bright, and they prevented me from listening for extended periods of time. Some might describe the N804 as detailed and reveling, personally they just do not make music like the Vandersteens do.
Reasons to buy the Vandersteens: First order crossovers, which provide phase correct sound (when combined with time aligned drive units as Vandersteen does), Full range, Freq. response is 30 – beyond what I can hear, the money goes for what is on the inside of the speaker, not into fancy wood veneers, they make music, and are at the same time revealing.
But you need to decide based on what you like!
