My little Honolulu blues band opened for them in 1969 (second half of their first tour). Talked to Page about his Les Paul just before they went on (he showed me a recent fingerboard ding) they had so much amazing energy then, somewhat less later likely due to Page's chemical issues. Fun after party (!).

I first saw them headline the first night of the Laurel Pop Festival in Laurel, MD in the summer of '69; to say that blew me away would be an understatement. Saw them in Syracuse in the early 70's and Oakland in '77, but I also went to a couple of Page/Plant tour shows, and I liked those better than LZ; much tighter playing... |
