Korean Hanji Paper and Audio Uses

I just watched a Korean TV program about traditional handmade Hanji Paper. Hanji is used in arts and crafts. I was only tuned in with one ear but when the speaker said that when Hanji was wrapped around a cellphone it prevented the signal from connecting to the phone. Well the first thing I thought was could it be used in audio? Wrapped around cables as a insulator, etc. I did a Google but found nothing relating to Hanji being used in electronics. I'm just a tweaker not a EE. Anyone else know anything about the use of this paper?
