A Different "Analog" Question
Nothing conveys time and especially what fraction of an hour has passed or is upcoming like analog hands.  Active outdoors most times, glancing at my wrist is way easier than reaching into my pocket.  Like a good hybrid amp, the Omega Seamaster is...
If I wanted to make my own speaker cables, is this a good choice for wire?
@dekay, I've used the Neotech OCC, for my IC and speakers cables per the Helix DIY noted in a prior posting.  For all of them I used 3 solid strands. Effectively 18 awg for the OCs and 14 awg for my speakers (Wirebarn calculator).  I'm intrigued b...
Distinctly Digital Forever?
Much like jonwolfpell, I settled on an Innuos Zen MKIII thru an MDHTOrchid with "Grannyring" upgrades.  I don't think I'll ever try to build out my vinyl collection any more. Sounds amazing.  Virtues of streaming been covered aplenty here.  No mor...
Hard of Hearing Audiophile.
This is a good thread and timely to me too.  I just added components to address my hearing (hi-freq) loss.  Some ask, why not get hearing aids? First, as noted above, the brain adjusts and I thought I had fine hearing. Still do!  Second, if I know...
Investigating if ultrasound is harming LPs
Interesting approach.  But if audio, specifically hi-freq loss is the issue then it only matters if that is the outcome.  So measure what is the issue; sound (hi-freq).  As far as material loss, what if loss occurs on all grooves all shapes of wav...
Solving the "complex music problem"?
Agree with @dcoffee.  No matter what the recorded performance is, there is always just one complex signal going down your speaker wires. It's the sum of what was laid down for that channel.  Unless one's electronics are that unresolving, I'm think...
Whats playing on your system today?
Jeff Beck; Best of, Blow By Blow Airbag; All Rights Removed
RIP Jeff Beck
On my system tonight.  RIP JB.  I spent an entire summer of my life listening to Blow By Blow, over and over.  As someone noted recently in the thread "Favorite Guitarist, his abilities are evident in that no one tried to cover him.  Innovator.
Heist/ crime songs
Genesis' Battle of Epping Forest.  Based on true story of a London mob fight.
MHDT dac...and which streamer/server?
The Orchid USB is asynchronous.  I'm learning this stuff now but I understand that means it's clock will sync the data stream, not the streamer device.  Is this undesirable?  While it's an amazing DAC, is there a problem buying "too much" streamer...
Favourite Guitarists
So many mentioned, many I want to explore now.  A couple more to throw out, who couldn't be more different.   First is Buckethead.  Hard to put in a genre but most known for possibly "fastest" guitarist,  appears alot with like of Claypool and Inc...
Has anyone used the new Innuos 2.0 Sense music app? Compared it to Roon?
Glad I found this thread.  Planning my entry into digital myself.  My son works at a company that employs a team of very bright technical folks in Kyiv.  Besides occasional blackouts too they have been productive throughout this whole ordeal.   To...
Innuos PULSE Mini?
@soix and @charles1dad I'm following this discussion closely.   Both the rip or not rip, and the entry level or the next step up question.  What do you think about the minis in either line with the added LPS in lieu of the pricier step ups? The Ze...
I have found out why new cables and tweaks actually work!
Well done Erik! I also know for a fact my cars always accelerate better and get about 2 mpg more after a good wash and wax. Especially the new ceramic products.  The SiO2 molecules are apparently aero-phobic.  I saw it on a website somewhere.   I...
If there was only ONE album/cd/release you can listen to, over and over.............
@fred60 +1 As a Prog guy an inclination would be to pick The Yes Album or DSOTM but the 'Lamb is just more of a total journey IMHO.  Decided this question in college.  Same answer today but loads more coming close.
