Albums that you listen to straight through / start to finish whenever you put them on!
“Yet who here doesn’t have an iTunes, Spotify, Tidal etc. playlist?“I have Tidal, and don’t have a playlist. I have saved some particular albums/collections so they are easy to find (Usually in my car for longer trips), but mostly use my saved art...

All of it more than 90% of the time. It’s rare that I don’t.I just received a 5 CD set of George Szell’s Decca and Philips Recordings 1951-1969, Original Masters. I began and will listen to all 5 CD’s, all the way through. May not be all in one si...
Your first system and your journey...
A Marantz integrated (had for many years), large Utah 3-way speakers (real wood boxes), and IIRC, a Garrard turntable.I do remember an ‘all in one system’ I had prior, I believe even had an 8-track player, maybe a Fisher? Not sure, but that was ju...
New Place - What Would You Do?
Looking at the plan and video, my initial thought would be the living room too. Personally I would want my listening room downstairs close to the other areas I will be using on a normal day/evening. The windows are a bit tough, as will be the larg...
Are your speakers designed for your listening taste and hearing ability?
Typically between 80-90+ db, depends, to me the volume should be realistic to the type of music and what the live setting would be.
Are your speakers designed for your listening taste and hearing ability?
As a 62 year old, in the past couple years I replaced my old ‘bright’ and ‘ear fatiguing’ speakers for Vandersteen 1C’s then almost immediately a pair of 2CE Sigs (have both still). Most say these Vandersteen’s are ‘dull‘, ‘warm’, and sound like t...
Frustrated with Vinly
Nope, I have no desire to do 8-tracks again :-D, hell, I don’t even have an 8-track tape anymore. I think most got eaten in my car player back in the day. But I will say, although very inconsistent, some of my old cassettes sound wonderful, partic...
Frustrated with Vinly
So many opinions and suggestions, many good ones.My reaction to al of this; As some of you know I, over the last year, decided to dig out my old 2055 Kenwood turntable, all my albums, and decide if vinyl was something that would interest me again....
Cataloging Question
Absolutely filing my music in alphabetical order would drive me nuts. I have vinyl, CD’s, cassettes, and then there are my ripped files. All are first categorized by music genre, i.e. classical, jazz, alternative, indie, rock, fusion, pop, etc (in...
Which combination of components (Streamer, DAC, Preamp, Amp, etc.) are most future-proof?
I would say the amp is most ‘future proof’. You can run a variety of ever changing front end sources on a good solid amp that ‘agrees with your ears’, has the ‘sound signature’ you desire, and the synergy and power to supply your speakers of choic...

Can anyone explain in laymans terms why your gear sound better after warm up
Interesting topic, though I am no electrical engineer....but....just so happens I received my ‘new’ mid-80’s Belles 400A amp this past weekend. All 60+ lb of it; two large torroidal transformers, eight huge Mallory caps, and a total of 24 Motorola...
B&K 125.2 Amp vs. Belles 150A (original)
Fantastic Johnny, thanks, I’ll call you tomorrow.
B&K 125.2 Amp vs. Belles 150A (original)
Yes, I like the B&K as well its a good amp.The Belles will allow you to forget good and help you escape into the feeling that your on another level.Pairing with the Vandersteen's properly set up should bring a newfound level of satisfaction.  ...
Speakers for audio and home theater
Get speakers geared towards music first. It must be important to you, as you are on these forums.I started, correction, re-started my journey back into ‘hifi’ by setting up a HT set-up with speakers more geared for that purpose. Problem, I soon re...
