Tweeter quest
Volt radial bass driver and PMCs own midrange. Yes I might use the deq to help out as well.
Tweeter quest
I would mount the unit via an adapter plate to the existing screw holes so it would be completely reversible. I would keep the original tweeter. Apparently the PMC uses a modified audax tweeter not vifa as I originally stated in the active speaker...
Tweeter quest
Hi,The speaker is active so I can do it all in the electronic crossovers. I have room measurement equipment and software and a couple of guys on hand that design there own speakers and can help me out with the upgrade. I beleive info on the existi...
Tweeter quest
Hi,I am not unhappy as such - the supplied tweeter is quite good. However a ribbon might be much better given what I have heard recently. I wouldnt modify the front baffle - so I could just swap the old tweeter back in. I dont really think there i...
tonearm cable recomendations for Brinkmann?
With the correct phono stage loading the emt wil really shine - I have heard versus the top vdh and dyna in my setup and massivley preferred the emt - especially at half the price. Without the correct loading it wil sound analytical and thin. For ...
Ideal TT & Arm for the following top cartridges...
Which phono stage did you use and was the brinkmann emt correctly loaded? It really needs 600 ohms and some cap loading as well.
tonearm cable recomendations for Brinkmann?
I own the lagrnage / 10.5 / emt - stick to the included arm tube cable and use good quality shielded and low capacitance cable with good quality connectors from the arm base to the phono. Pay no more than $100 for a 1m cable. The rest is snake oil.
borbely audio 420 phono stage
I imagine it is somewhere between the 320 and 419 on the BA web page in terms of specs. It is exceptionally quiet. So far I cant find any fault with it - a first for any phono stage for me!
PMC speakers vs B&W... has anyone compared?
The mb1 lacks the rounded corners on the cabinet and has a different crossover - and thats about it. very old mb2s might have the old atc midrange. I choose the mb2 over the 800 - the former is more more accurate and more even handed accross music...
Cable Costs Relative to System
Nanotech? This sounds distictly pseudo scientific to me. Are you proposing nano tech cables will make a big difference? :S
Cable Costs Relative to System
This work is being done at frequencies many orders of magnitude higher than audio where certain effects become important. It is irrelevent at audio frequencies - just like the skin effect.
Cable Costs Relative to System
Maple - you have hit the nail entirely on the head. People just want to throw money away. I recently saw a nordost "dem" at a hsow - except it wasnt a dem, they just talked about how their cable was a bargain even at 1000s per metre. A comparison ...
Cable Costs Relative to System
Filters on my speaker cables??? No no no! Only on the MAINS cables. Your comment is a bit absurd ;)I would be interested to hear this huge difference demonstrated - so far noone has been able to meet this challenge. And indeed rigourous scientific...
Cable Costs Relative to System
Jade - if it is fact then please provide the scientific proof of those "facts". Lets see you tell the difference between these cables in a blind test for a start. The results I feel will be very instructive. As for doubting my honesty - you have n...
Cable Costs Relative to System
Allot $100 per interconnect, $200 for your speaker cable and $100 per filtered mains cable and get the whole lot custom made. Solidly enginered cables from any reasonably competent engineer will match anything out there at even a 100 times the pri...
