Build or buy, speaker options
Thanks b_limo, but the getting the crossover out was more a matter of the time I had to invest in the moment. I can get it out, and possibly will this weekend.  This wouldn’t be my first rodeo with building floorstanders, and I do enjoy woodworkin...

Build or buy, speaker options
Thanks for the input, Tim. I’m not certain that the inductor cores are iron, that was my assumption as I’m not familiar with other core material possibilities. They are for sure, cored inductors.  Possibly laminated steel?  As for clipping, the am...
There's a lot more bass in a 6.5" driver than most of you think
Some some very interesting comments here. I’ve always been a fan of multiple smaller drivers For producing bass. As a speaker builder hobbyist when I started out with lower cost drivers, one of my goals was to get quality bass from smaller drivers...
Best DAC for around $2,500 or less
Although it’s only been my second dac, the Schiit Gungnir multibit I have now has been a game changer in my system. After this experience, I’m inclined to think the only other dac I might be interested in is one of the Denafrips, which I haven’t h...
Diminishing Returns
I’m kinda surprised no one has mentioned KLH, a company that seems to be returning from the dead. I heard the Kendall at a stereo store and was very impressed, especially as I was flipping between them and a pair of Harbeths. The KLH Kendall’s hel...

Patsy Cline’s Greatest Hits.  I’m back in baby’s arms.
Pro Ject Debut Carbon improvement possibilities
Thanks for the suggestion Chakster.  I’m not conversant with what cartridges would be the classics, but I’m very open to possibilities other than Ortofon. I know very little about the advantages of MI cartridges. As for Ortofon’s 2M line, the Red ...

Cartridge misadventures
John, great story.  Chakster, I think you missed the point.
Favorite instrument through your favorite speakersi
I have to say that cellos sound exceptional on these Triangle Volantes. Warm, dark brown, with all the string nuances. Any brass also sounds great. Lots of bite where it should be. Enjoy,Dave
Bifrost multibit vs gungnir multibit
Thanks Bob, yes, leaving the Gungnir on 24/7, but it’s only been a day so far. I do like it a lot, but I haven’t heard the Ayre so I don’t have means for comparison. Unfortunately, the one store in Chicagoland that I knew was an Ayre dealer recent...
