Still happily using vintage gear?
Right outside this room are a pair of nicely restored Dahlquist DQ-10's bought from a nearby seller for $375 - including black grill cloth and custom stands! Not yet in use - lack of space! Outside the doorway are a pair of Rogers LS3/5A's 11 ohms...
Still happily using vintage gear?
Instead I will post what I am presently using out of the piles of HiFi gear at hand. From where I'm sitting I have the DCM Time Windows 1A (52779, 52780) driven by a Sumo Andromeda amp connected to an RGR 4 preamp. Signal sources are: Ariston RD11...
Still happily using vintage gear?
I removed my three posts because I don't want to be seen as a braggart! Suffice to say that I own enough old gear - and guitars! - to fill a store.
Need help buying new speaker cable
So hartwell do you have some t-shirts saying "SHUNYATA" with their logo?
Need help buying new speaker cable
Remember that all these cable/wire companies want your money and they will say anything within legal boundaries to entice you to open your wallets! Call me suspicious, particularly when I read words like "quantum tunneling", "cryogenic processing"...
Need help buying new speaker cable
I am not going to delete my post above even if I seem like an atheist in a bible study group! In fact I have been buying and trying wire in my various HiFi systems since the late 70's! Interconnects and speaker wire. My favorites were the Verion T...
Linn Sondek- Origin Live upgrades anyone?
@daveyf : It's an early 80's LP12 with a Grace 707/Denon 103D. In fact my second one! Bought from an eBay seller in Britain a few years ago. My first one was a few years younger (late 70's) and it too had a Grace 707 arm with a Grado G1. So both L...

Show me some engineering data that proves the superiority of cable A over cable B! Otherwise "golden ear" claims are just whistlin' Dixie! Ditto for manufacturer claims! They want your money!

+1 turnbrown! Good advice! Why spend big bucks on a new pair and have to try to sell a damaged pair! I am sure Tara Labs can easily handle a broken connector repair.
Linn Sondek- Origin Live upgrades anyone?
The LP12 was popular among the cognoscenti of the late 70's because right out of the carton it did NO harm to the music - and it cost a mere $450! Two compelling reasons to own one! Yes, Ivor Tieffenbraun found a way to extract money from the obse...
Tang Band 2145 in action
Hey mozartfan - why don’t you check out those new Altec 755 8" drivers that an eBay seller has for around $300 each? Yes they are reproductions but with new higher efficiency magnets! I assume they will be over 90db sensitivity. They look impressi...
FZ documentary a winner
Nice to hear of this! Thank you russellrcncom! Frank Zappa was certainly an iconaclast in the music business who left us all too soon!
Audio: what took so long ?
+1 audition_audio! There was high-quality audio in the Fifties! MacIntosh, Marantz, Fisher, Scott, Altec, JBL, Klipsch, Quad, Harmon Kardon, Empire, Shure, Stanton, Grado, Thorens, Garrard, SME ... more!
Harmon Kardon Citation XX
No I haven’t! But HK has a solid reputation going back to the old tube days when Stewart Hegeman worked for them.
If I could afford, I’d purchase 100% Oswald Mills Audio gear
Oh the follies of the wealthy!
