What about the other way around? 25 watts of Class A power for the LS3/5A's will be fine! I have a pair of Rogers. They are not meant for playing metal at 100 db! More power will only risk damaging the KEF B110 woofers.
Amplification: what are the biggest advances of the last 40 years? Getting the neurotically obsessed to believe that five-figure amps are somehow sonically superior to well-designed four-figure amps!

Re-tubing a McIntosh power amp JJ 6550 made in Slovakia are a good recommendation - and affordable! Other brands like Gold Lion and Tungsol are made in Russia - not a USA-friendly country!

What's your dream speaker? Another pair of KLH Nine electrostats to place side-by-side with my present pair - in use since 1992! To be driven with my pair of Futterman H3aa OTL 60 watt tube amps!
Horn speakers , high efficiency but not “shouty” Speakerlab 7's - 12", 10", 15" horn and 7" horn. Both horns are plastic. No "bite"! SQ beats any Heresy and Cornwall. Bass goes down below 40 hz. I bought mine from Habitat for $100 + $50 delivery. I can live with the flat black white speckle finish!
Transport needed ! If $26 for a DVD player sounds too cheap, I also bought a 2003 Toshiba TOTL player for $90 (new $1300) and a TOTL Sony 8000ES from '03 for $80 (new $1300). I will also use these with the Khadas DAC! |
