Advice on using a dac with my avr
Oh my gosh, can you imagine someone discussing an audio/video receiver in the home theater section of this website?
Audio Research Financial Troubles
@mulveling These threads are really just lightning rods to bring out the "I don‚Äôt like Audio Research" guys ūüėÖ Possibly, but at least some of us are business people with a lifetime of experience analyzing business financial situations includin...
Audio Research Financial Troubles
@hsounds¬† let me know when I can stop by and grab your Ref 6,3,or 2,SE on the cheap If you are really in the market, have you looked on Audiogon or USAudiomart recently?¬† There is plenty to chose from at attractive prices.¬†¬† ¬† ¬†
Audio Research Financial Troubles
@ghdprentice Audio Research‚Äôs problems are long over. Nothing to do with the viability of the business, but of a highly leveraged buy out by a great guy with the best intentions and a change in the interest rates. Respectfully submitted, whil...
New Speaker advice
I am going against the flow here, but I have a friend with an older Denon AVR and I am always amazed at how good it sounds.¬† I have always thought Denon makes very nice sounding gear for its price points.
Room Too Dead
Or, before going crazy. If it was me before doing anything else, why not just buy a graphic equalizer and make adjustments to increase or decrease the offending eq bands. I am a fan of the reasonably priced Schiit Lokius which I use in my system...
Resolving CD Transports Crowd Sourcing
ghdprentice brings up a great point I hadn't considered in mentioning using it mostly for its DAC.  It would be nice though to have a spare laser assembly in a cabinet somewhere.   Just like I will now buy a spare remote for my electronics to have...

@agisthos and @68pete Other than the fact he has apparently ripped off tranchautuan for several $thousand and is not making any timely attempts to pay him back he is just a peach of a fella. This is of course assuming, as I am, that tranchautua...
Resolving CD Transports Crowd Sourcing
@wharfy¬†Will be auditioning an Audio Research CD6SE this coming weekend. Curious how you were able to secure an audition.¬† I was under the impression that the CD6SE was discontinued two or three years ago after a two-year run because Phillips (...
One key to building great systems over time.
@tony1954¬†@ditusa¬† +1 ¬†
They know we will pay anything they can think of
The fact that much, if not most, audio gear sells for just a little more than half the original price on the used market after a couple of years somehow factors into the conversation. Is the loss of value due to technological improvements of newe...
High Fidelity Cables?
@tranchautuan¬† Just curious if you had a chance to talk with Schultz regarding the $3,000+ that you mentioned he owes you?
Intg Amps: Hegel 590 vs NAD M33 Masters vs Gryphon Diablo 120
@bigtwin I purchased the H590 from an original owner a few years back.¬† You would never have known it wasn‚Äôt brand new when I received it.¬† As quality amps are built to last for decades, paying 50% or more extra just to get the "new car smell" ...
Resolving CD Transports Crowd Sourcing
I'd consider waiting until all the bugs are worked out of the new Schiit transport and for a couple of reviews.  I have only owned two lesser priced Schiit products, the SYS and Lokius, but like their overall business model.
