One guitar, or three?
of all the three guitar lineups  mentioned i think moby grape was the most distinctive--jerry miller was a vg blues-based lead player, peter lewis played an elaborate fingerpicked folky style and skip spence played a pounding rhythm like the drumm...
Are Audioengine A2+ worth it for £240?
No
Spotify vs. Apple Music vs. Google Play vs. Tidal: Which is Best
when the hell is spotify going to roll out the hi-fi tier they've been promising forever?
Best double studio vinyl?
a related query would be how much better most of these albums would be if pared down to one record. "layla" for instance, could easily lose "key to the highway,"  "thorn tree" and maybe "have you ever loved a woman" and been just about perfect. wh...
Any song recommendations for testing purposes?
my go-to is "paranoid android" (radiohead), which runs the full gamut from quiet/loud/open/dense. alternatively, "black metallic" by catherine wheel or "i feel alright" by steve earle, which has a lot of subtleties on his acoustic guitar.
new headphones recommendation? grado gs3000e or…
for sparkling highs w/o boomy bass i'd look at hifiman arya or 1000; focal clear is also vg.
Warning for Revel lovers
i've had a couple of interactions with revel's customer service/parts departments over the years and all have been frustrating--considering they're a division of a gazillion dollar conglomerate, they're like dealing with some chaotic third world, ...

+1 alucard19--i'd just add an amp.
Looking for “just good enuf” for garage man cave
you can get a 2ch wireless streaming receiver like the yamaha n303 for <$300 (much less for used), which gives you all sorts of connectivity. add a couple of speakers (polk, klipsch, etc.) and you're all set. accessories4less has good prices on...
An Objective Review of the Tekton Double Impact Speakers
i actually heard the double impacts for the first time a couple of weeks ago--they’re neither as bad nor as transcendent as its detractors/fanboys claim. big sounding, good imaging and lots of detail. tight, not overbearing low end. high end sound...
Ridiculous resale price of vintage equiment
selling prices of the sought-after 70's stuff (sansui, marantz, pioneer) have probably doubled in the last ten years or so, probably driven by the resurgence of interest in vinyl. considering that many  of these pieces are now 50 years old, look g...
Buying refurbished gear....
my understanding is that most refurbished gear from reputable merchants is new stuff which was returned either because the buyer changed his mind or couldn't figure out how to operate. my experiences with a4less have all been positive, tho i've no...
Naim Audio system owners - What speakers are you using with Naim?
naim speakers sound great with naim amps--i've owned the arrivas (which sounded very ordinary with other front ends) and the sbls and the synergy was really something to behold.
Who uses ADS Speakers
i've owned the 1290 (good but very sensitive to pairing), the 710 (great tweeter) and the 780 (vg but not as good as the 710). the real gem was the L470, which i found for tenbucks at a yard sale--amazing clarity and surprisingly deep, tight bass ...
