Best standalone music server?
For those of you concerned that the Bluesound Vault 2 may not be high end enough for you, I suggest that if you already have a DAC that you like, play it through the DAC and call it a day
Best standalone music server?
I've just seen this thread for the first time.I have the Bluesound Vault 2, and in other rooms in the home I have a Node 2 and the Minipulse.I had tried a PC based system and frankly it was to much hassle.  I have no desire to be dealing with IT i...
Need Help Ripping My CD Collection
@nycjleeThe Bluesound Vault 2 does sound good but it has digital outs so it can be used with a better DAC.  It can also be used as part of a whole home system
Berkeley vs Bryston vs Lampizator
@audiotroy I have the original Manhatten.  I guess I should contact Mytek about an upgrade but I'm so happy with it that I haven't bothered
Dac from mid range to cost no object
DACs that do SACD are rare beasts.  I own the Bryston BDA 3 which has HDMI inputs.  One needs a transport that that can output DSD from the SACDs and I use an Oppo 105.  The transport should be figured in the cost.  The Bryston is good with Redboo...
How old is too old for a Dac?
OP- that is a great question.Digital, and in particular the DAC end of things, change so fast.  I've just invested a bundle in 2 DACs and they both are supposed to be upgradable via firmware updates.  Hopefully that keeps me sane for a while
Tidal and Streaming player
Yamaha and other AVRs have their own streaming/whole home applications similar to Bluesound.  It may depend on the other needs in your system.  If you need or want an AVR, you might consider them.  I have a Bluesound Vault 2 in my 2 channel system...
Packing up my CDP...bittersweet
CDs are 'digital music '
Berkeley vs Bryston vs Lampizator
I've owned the Bryston for about 3 weeks now but I can't comment on the Berkeley or the Lampetc.  I currently and am using 2 DACs--the Bryston for SACD and Blu Ray and the Mytek Manhatten for everything else.  The original plan was to sell off the...
Sony UHP-1 experience?
Sorry to hear that, Chris. However, if I were to buy the unit, I would be using the digital outputs, essentially just using the Sony as a transport.  Can you give us a review based on the digital outputs?  After all, the unit goes for around $300, ...
Bryston BDA-3
Agree agree with all of the above, Rice.it's hard to imagine the Mytek sounding any better....suspect the Manhatten II adds MQA and USB from a Mac, neither of which Icare much about.  However, I will contact Mytek about an upgrade, I can always us...
Bryston BDA-3
Well Millpai, let me know if you attend Axpona, maybe we can meet for a drink or something
Bryston BDA-3
@milpai i was auditioning the Bryston hoping that I would love it so much that I would sell off the Mytek.  When I had purchased the Mytek it made everything that it does play sound so much better that now my SACDs in two channel via the Oppo didn...
Bryston BDA-3
@milpai I am sorry for the confusion. The Mytek can not take SACD, as noted.  I am comparing the SACD decoding of the Bryston vs the SACD decoding of the Oppo105When I reference comparing the Mytek to the Bryston, I am refering to non SACD replay, ...
Bryston BDA-3
Thanks, E.  My HD downloads sound spectacular on the Bryston, but the L.E.D. still lights up as DSD over PCM...I know that you own the Brooklyn, E.  I've never had a chance to compare the Brooklyn vs the Manhatten, but as I've noted, the Manhatten...
