Magnepan 3.7 Thanks. That was a great blog. Loved the "listen for crickets"
Magnepan 3.7 Thanks! Very informative. By the way via my RSS reader I am now subscribed to your Internet blog/site.
Magnepan 3.7 Thanks. What cables competed against it?
Magnepan 3.7's versus 20.1's? Interesting. Again, hoping my post doesn't take anything away from the 20.1s. They are superb with stellar amplification and a large room where they can breathe and listening chair is far enough back to enjoy the enormous sound/stage they offer. B...
Magnepan 3.7's versus 20.1's? My room and listening distance isn't big enough to accommodate the 20.1s. Budget isn't a determining factor either. In addition, I preferred the way the treble coordinated and integrated with rest of the range in the 3.7s the most. If I could have...
Magnepan 3.7 Which new speaker cable is it?
Magnepan 3.7's versus 20.1's? My brother owns the 20.1 driven by top of the line Audio Research amps, preamps, etc. It sounds amazing. SOTA in dynamics, accurate powerful bass, speed, transparency, etc. However, for my room, preferred budget and my listening preferences, I act...
Magnepan 3.7 I think I will stick with Harmonic Technology Pro Reference 9 SE, and just go from external bi-wire to non-biwire. The Harmonic Tech cabling in my current system performs flawlessly -- it has 9 gauge so good for long run.
Herron VSTP 1A /166 vs. TAD 150 signature I haven't compared the two, but my Herron VTPH-2 phono preamp consistently beats all contenders I've tried on those very factors (silky mids, 3d soundstage, bass, dynamics, top end extension, clarity). I can't imagine the other components (preamp)...
Magnepan 3.7 I am supposed to receive my new 3.7s this Friday. Will be driving them with VAC 300.1a. I hope that has enough grunt to bring out what the 3.7s have to offer. I auditioned the Maggies with 150 wpc Ayre amp and for my listening levels was more than...
Sony SCD XA5400ES tube rolling? I agree with Erndog's assessment. I put two Sophia 6sn7s in the Modwright 5400es. I noticed more depth/3d and a "smoother" quality to the sound which allowed more details to emerge. They beat a pair of chrome domes I was using.
Magnepan 3.7 I agree with Socrates7. Magnepan 3.7 is the only Maggie I have heard in the past year (versus 1.7 and 20.1) that I want to buy. More balanced (not tilted to upper frequencies but coherently delivers across the full spectrum; I found 1.7s to be a l...
would the Sony SCD 5400 Ex make a good transport? I finally got to hear the difference of NOS 6sn7 tube rolling in the VAC. Just inserting one pair of Sylvania Chrome Tops in the outside slots on the 300.1 gave more punch and weight. Now I'm weighing if I should do the NOS hunt (RCA vt231, KenRad...
Sony SCD XA5400ES tube rolling? OK, I'm ordering some Sophias. Fortunately, I have 4 6sn7 tubes in my VAC 300.1a amp, so am able to roll same tubes in there. Since the Sophias are so closely matched, I could use them for the input 6sn7 tubes in the VAC.
Sony SCD XA5400ES tube rolling? I bought the NOS Sylvania Chrome Dome Bad Boys. Didn't even make it into my Sony player yet because they took a detour to my VAC 300.1a amp. Holy Toledo! They sound awesome. Added some heft, low end energy, space that wasn't there before. Now I ne... |
