Randall RG50TC tube amp issue Those poor guitar amps! 10 years on those output tubes! Get NEW sets and bias them correctly.
Randall RG50TC tube amp issue Owning tube guitar amps, I'd say that your output tubes are kaput! They don't last forever! A 1000 or 2 hours usually, depending upon biasing and usage. Get a new matched set and most important - set the bias voltage correctly for the output tube ...
Randall RG50TC tube amp issue You are on the WRONG forum! This is a HI FI forum - NOT about guitar amps!
Is the Vinyl Revival well and growing? Most new vinyl is sourced from digital copies of the master tapes (if analog tape was even used at all). So why bother, get a CD instead! That's why I always will buy original pressings - even if condition isn't the best. Going into the Future the...
Big vintage amps worth paying for and keeping for a long time Perreaux 1250B! I have one and it's certainly competitive with Levinson for build and SQ!
Best MM? Shure V15 type Vmr!
Schiit Saga which tubes to order? I bought a used quad set of RCA 6L6GC black plates for use in my Fender Twin. $75 per tube ($300 total). I consider this a good and fair deal. The US - made Black Plates are the ne plus ultra's of the 6L6's (for tone and longevity!).
Schiit Saga which tubes to order? I suspect that some of these "NOS" 6SN7's (and others) may be used "pulls" in old boxes! Nothing wrong with used tubes that still have high cathode emission (70% +). They should be advertised as such and sold at a reasonable price! Certainly not f...
JBL - almost nothing for sale, why? I confess to owning three pairs of JBL's: C56's, 4312's and L166's. Had a pair of 640's for a while - they sounded real good!
JBL - almost nothing for sale, why? My cousin still has his L100's that he bought new back in '72! Used with a McIntosh C28/2105. This was considered "high end" back then!
JBL - almost nothing for sale, why? Just now I counted 10 pairs of L100's for sale on EBAY. Average price $1K + shipping. Among the ten is a pair of the 2018's for $3200 + shipping ($250). So vintage pairs are not rare - unlike my KLH Nines! The L100 is a good speaker for loud rock ...
SET v. Pushpull A nicely restored pair of Dynaco Mk III's will work well with your LS50's. PP 6550's and excellent transformers - 60 + watts from a proven classic design! Competitive in SQ with today's much more expensive tube amps!
The current best band in the world? Kayo Dot!
The Devil is in the Cartridge Setup (and a good phone pre)... I recommend cleaning the stylus after playing every LP side. And apply some Stylast after cleaning.
A Better Bluesound AC Cable? If you really think that changing the AC cable on your Bluesound will make it sound "better" - well, keep dreaming! Go ahead, spend the money! I recommend getting a Pangea from Audio Advisor. I bought one too - nicely made and not too expensive! |
