Vibration control on power versus signal Cool. Was just wondering how profound the effect is. I know everything helps, but sometimes it's subtle, very subtle, astounding, etc. Sometimes it is hard to notice what caused what because multiple changes were made in short succession and I hav...
Vibration control on power versus signal What about your power conditioner?
Stratospheric audio gear prices Inflation, budget deficits, the national debt skyrocketing unmnageably .....Canada and Europe, here we come!
Help buying first analog rig - Clearaudio Concept or Rega P6 Save up for a Rega P8 - much better arm, no plinth, you just see the spinning platter and a silver brace recessed attaching the arm, and the removable dust cover design is much better (I had a P5 which is the same or similar dust cover). I have a ...
Townshend Seismic Podiums @flaxxer - Not all things measurable are audible, and not all things audible are measurable. It's a good start, but not the be all and end all. When I say "draining" vibrations, of course they don't disappear, they dissipate through multiple levels...
Townshend Seismic Podiums I didn't like the floating nature pods for floor standing speakers, and I have my turntable on a Townshend platform which works great. For speakers however, I put mine on top of solid, multi layer platforms that drain the internal speaker vibration...
Buying used: how old is too old? hey @jnovak - I had a pair of Polk's back in the 80s - I think is was floor standing 12B's. I liked the open tweeter on top and I was happy like you for a good while, until I heard speakers with bass.If you have the $$ get something else, you'll b...
How many of you are digital only systems? I think if you have a vinyl collection in good condition that you enjoy, keep it. If you don't own any vinyl or a turntable, it is probably less expensive to get something very good that can come close to or even meet the vinyl sound, depending on...
Stratospheric audio gear prices I think amps and speakers represent the biggest opportunities for finding great values in the used market, especially solid state amps. Cables - I'm not one to spend excessively on them, so can't comment on buying used cables and saving big money....
What ever happened to Mark Levenson? @skyscraper - Bill Murray lives in South Carolina (as much as any star lives in one primary place). He gets around a lot doing hilarious things all over the place. Check out his Netflix show following him. It is historical. Have’s heard anything a...
Do I NEVER shut it off…? Anal audiophile? Redundant. Anal analogue audiophile? Double redundant....
What ever happened to Mark Levenson? Bill Murray is the man....SNL male MVP, but close call. Gilda the runaway female MVP. Can’t even compare a #2.
Power conditioner types I know that my phono stage manufacturer, Sutherland, used to make one that was battery powered called the PhD which was popular back in the day. Not sure why he stopped making them, but it makes sense since they use so little power.
What ever happened to Mark Levenson? Chevy was never in Steely Dan or on any tour with them to my knowledge. . He was friends with Don and Walt at Bard and played with them there. I think he was gone when they signed with ABC to write songs for them. @roxy54 - he should have made sur...
How to isolate turntable from footstep shake or vibration I am also surprised @mijostyn that you doubt that a vibration platform would help with your phono stage. What you don't seem to comprehend is that in addition to external vibrations, there are internal vibrations within components that can be drain... |
