Sexiest New 'Vintage'-Style Integrated/Amp/Receiver
+1 for the high end Yamaha sexiness.  Also big ups to the recent fancy Technics
Listening to music I don’t particularly like
Diana Krall.  I would certainly never have gotten any Diana Krall if I had not started chasing the audiophile sound.
Thoughts on having 2 different sized subs in same room
Why that subwoofer?  Why not one of the new SVS subwoofers that allow of DSP control throught their phone app?
Is advice from a constant upgrader to be avoided
Try to separate the good from the bad.  There is some good info here but it is important to pick and choose.  Some folks here have a very tenuous relationship with reality so be careful.
Ready For Digital Source...Computer?
On this forum you are always going to get lots of opinions regardless of how sound your position might be. You can make a test for little or no money. If you have an old laptop or PC (both free if you already own them) and a DAC (maybe you alrea...
Magico A5 or Sonus faber SERAFINO TRADITION or Harbeth 40.3 XD
Damn dude, you are going to be hard pressed to get much better than the F228Be without spending a whole more.  Maybe $25k isn't enough. Good luck! Hope the music never stops!
Magico A5 or Sonus faber SERAFINO TRADITION or Harbeth 40.3 XD
Of those three I would go with the Magico first and then Sonus Farber. I don't think the Harbeth are a great match for your music.   I would also add the Revel PerformaBe F328Be to your list of speakers to consider.   I am listening to GarciaL...
Ready For Digital Source...Computer?
An older windows laptop and a good dac are a great choice for folks with lots of music on hard drives.  Use Foobar2000 and the related Foobar2000 remote control for smart phones and it is super convenient.  Set up Windows sharing across your home ...
Great song to test bass
an album by Chris Thile and Edgar Meyer named Bass & Mandolin has lots of deep double bass.
Have you moved away from full range to standmount speakers + subs?
Why not full range and a sub or subs?  I like mine that way.
Best Speaker Choice for my very "non-audio-friendly" Living Room
It seems you want to fill the room with music/sound if imaging is not hugely important. I would also recommend the Spatial open baffle speakers if space allows for them.
Focal, B&W or Martin Logan
@james633 I have the Revel Concert2 F36 in the living room and truly love the sound they give for the money.  You make a very good argument for the value of the 228be through compared to the Sopra.  Let's see what the bonus looks like next fiscal ...
Focal, B&W or Martin Logan
I am a recent convert to Focal speakers (though I never cared for the look of the bent front towers).  I have the low cost Chorus 706 in the bedroom and greatly enjoy them.  I am considering the Kanta and Sopra as a future speaker.  The fit and fi...
How do you listen?
I play the music as loud as the situation allows.  6am and the family still sleeping?  low and turn off the subwoofer.Middle of the afternoon and no one is home?  all the way to eleven.
What do you think is the best integrated amplifier under 1000
Not a lot of love for Yamaha here but I am a fan.  Consider the Yamaha A-S801.  Also, the Cambridge CXA61.  Another good choice.
