Best speaker on used market around 10,000.00

Owned a ton of speakers, looking for a speaker that has that visceral punch when needed was also won't rip your head off on the top end.
Smooth mids, big sound stage and punch.

I would suggest the Avalon Eidolon Vision. It may be a few $k more but well worth it.
My first choice would be one of the Tannoy Prestige series, if a pair could be found. My second choice would be the Vandersteen 5A.
Vandersteen 5As, no doubt. They are phase-copherent across the band, use excellent drivers and design, and the powered-bass system is EXCELLENT for definition, power. and extention...as in below 20Hz. The bass system is also tuneable to remove most of the peaks and valleys from 120Hz down that occur in virtually all our listening rooms.

At c. 87dB sensitivity, they do need power, but that's easy--merely connect them to a pair of McCormack DNA-750s.

I sure do love mine...both the 5As and the '750s...and can't imagine ever replacing them.

Agree, Totem Wind and Vandy 5A are good contender. I would love to add another one - Salksound SS8, owning one and love it.
