If you're looking at JL Audio and REL, give Velodyne a look as well - their digital drive series is fairly comparable in quality/price/performance and they have a lot of options that may suit your needs. As far as size is concerned, I'd go with a 12" over a 10" because the difference in "musicality" is negligible (in my opinion), and a 12" will tend to have better bottom-end extension.
