Crown D-150A series 2: help

For now I can't turn it on because it's missing the fuse 6.25A MDX (easy to replace). The bigger problem is that it's also missing the fuse holder:  part # C5597A5

Should really be bought back up very slowly with a variac and monitored with test gear, at a few different points 
It will be very good luck if it powers up and works, they are probably missing for a reason, should be looked at by a tech first before re-powering again, because even more damage could happen, if you want to keep it and get it fixed.

Before you install fuse holder, use a 150Watt incandescent light bulb instead of a fuse, power up the amplifier without speaker connected, if the light bulb light up a second then dim down, the amplifier maybe still in working condition, next thing to check is DC voltage at output, if less than 50mV, then it is safe to install fuse holder and connect speakers for sound test.
If power up the amplifier the light bulb light up continuously and not dimming, then the amplifier need to be get fixed.

Well I would have left it right where it was, make sure your outside when you plug it in!

Hay what about the ol sniff test.  Does it smell like pets, or smell burnt?
Be aware of the pet, be VERY aware of the burnt smell..

LOL I like the mattmiller approach too..  Point that puppy, at the noisy neighbor, get around the corner and plug it in.

You might get lucky, you know, two birds, one stone, thing.. ;-), Sorry I just had too.

Thanks for these (varied!) responses. A lot more to consider here than I realized. 

The crown seems in pretty pretty good shape based on appearance. Does not have that burnt circuitry odor. The way people in neighboring studios throw things out in this building, I’ve reason to suspect it’s just a fuse replacement. But now I’m concerned. 

My use needs for this are just to use in my studio, using an old NAD 3020 for preamp duties only. 

The dilemma here is that taking this to a tech might end up costing more than the amp is worth. Unless maybe there’s an inexpensive tech in Brooklyn I need to know about. 

If I just procure and insert the correct fuse holder and fuse and then turn it on, what’s the worst that could happen?
