Dedicated power supply and upgraded power cable
I would appreciate your thoughts on whether it wll make sense to upgrade the power cord of the external power supplies of my preamp and streamer.
To be honest, I was skeptical about the added benefit of high end power cords (not cables in general), but recently upgraded those of my monoblocks and the improvement was far beyond any expectation.
Now with the preamp and the streamer I am wondering wether their high end external power supplies will not diminish the potential improvement of such an upgrade.

It definitely will make a difference. I use WyWires Platinums HC on my Nordost QB4 then another feeding my Pass amp. I have same PC feeding my PS Audio P10 which being a component that essentially makes new power makes no sense but it does make a difference. Additionally I us a WyWires Silver Juice II HC on a Teddy Pardo power supply feeding my DAC and it’s noticeable. As noted above, the better the components the more you will notice what power cables can offer. |
Thank you for sharing your experience, adg101. I am getting really excited to give it a try with upgraded power cables on the dac, pre and streamer. I think I will go for a stepwise upgrade to see every component’s response. Reminds me on my car tuning, where I have the very same approach and it delivers great pleasure :) at the end, isn’t it all about pleasure?…
