digital cable\coax cable-what's the diff

For your picture you should at least be using an S-vid. cable.--If your tv has an input for one of those.--Your dvd player has an s-out,for sure. This cable would be for picture only. Second choice would be a composite video cable.-- Looks like the standard interconnect.(also for picture only.) Get one specifically for video

For your audio; It depends how *up scale* your equipment is. Many budget receivers do just fine on the little *toslink*. --Coming out of the dvd player, into, say a receiver. This holds the same for a cd player as well.

Ok a coax cable:They look the same as a standard interconnect. You would want to get one specified as a *digital* cable. The signal carried by that cable is in the digital format. --Unlike a standard interconnect-- / that carries an analog signal.--- So,yes they have different purposes. Are we good now?

Good job AVGUY I would just like to fine tune it a little more. If your TV and DVD player have *COMPONENT VIDEO* Capability. (Inputs on the TV) (Outputs on the DVD player). Use them for the highest quality video connection. This will require a Tri-Video-Cable RCA/RCA. Easily purchased at your local Stereo store. A monster brand gold tip will run about $90.00

Try to use a digital coax cable for your audio connection as opposed to a tos-link. Around $40.00 monster brand(GOLD TIP) This will give you the best quality and more bass.

To answer your questions there is no difference between digital coax and digital.

No matter what you decide I would try to take the video signal direct to the TV from the DVD player. Then run the audio signal via a digital cable direct to your reciever.

I don't have any budget gear here! Yes i am using monster's top of the line silver hd super video conections now. I am gonna buy some cardis cable's and will spend around $6oo for a couple of digital cable's. I was just confused because some people call them digital cable's and some call them digital coax. I know i want coax just wanna be sure for $600.Thats the only thing about buying on audiogon you don't get to see what you bought til it arrive's!
Anyway's my sony 35'' does'nt have component video jack's. All of my other gear does and i probably won't buy a new tv for a couple of years so i get the right hd tv.
I am almost done with my system, just down to the last cable's. Thank's for the input............ringo
p.s. HAVE'NT SEEN PAUL AND GEORGE FOR A WHILE BUT OU FOOTBALL IS LESS THAN 30 DAYS SO I WILL SEE THEM SOON! AND WHO IS THIS!LOL
