Is the Rockport Avior II an Endgame Speaker?

This past week, I spent about 90 minutes listening to a number of my favorite tracks through Rockport's Avior II speakers. For the most part, I found them to be accurate and musical, but with one shortcoming (maybe). To me, the most bottom end on some tracks with deep bass sounded a little over-emphasized in that realm. Of course, that exaggeration could be due to an anomaly in the streamer/DAC or the amplifier, and not the speakers themselves. I just don't know, which is why I am asking other Audiogon participants familiar with the Avior II to let me know their impressions of this speaker gained from the experiences living with -- or at least listening to -- them.

This will be my last purchase of speakers, and I want my decision to be as educated as possible. Thanks!

I donʻt know about endgame.  Thereʻs always another audio wonder out next year thatʻs supposed to put all the others to shame.

 

With your budget, Iʻd sell off my electronics stack, buy a pair of the Dutch  & Dutch 8c, get your room analyzed and use the built-in DSP EQ to optimize for your room and be done.  The D&D 8c along with the streamer of your choice and you are DONE.

No fooling with matching a megabuck amp to the megabuck speakers, tripping over the megabuck cables, etc, etc.

 

But if you just have to throw it all away, go ahead.  The D&D 8c really will blow your mind.

I own the Atria II. They are very good and I can listen for hours without fatigue. Avior II has more bass which I augment with 2 subs. Next step up would be 100k+ speakers. I would believe one can be very happy with any Rockport speaker. Room and setup are key and so are the electronics feeding them.

I have the Avior I and absolutely love them…top to bottom. I drive the with a VTL S- 200 amp and Audio Research LS 28SE pre-amp. Speaker cables are Transparent Audio Gen 5 reference

I upgraded to the Avior ll’s about 3 months ago and they are a perfect fit for my system. Are they end game? Is anything end game? I don’t know but for now they are by far the best speakers I have owned (many) or heard. Happy to talk about them and my impressions so far.
