An outside the box idea.... don’t rip any music you have to a HDD or any drive. Get a subscription to the music service/server you like, such as Spotify or Tidal, and find + save all the albums that match your CD and SACD collection you have, to folders. Streaming is getting better and better.
Need direction for moving CD collection to hard disc
I'm looking to rip my CD collection to hard disk and a portable high quality player for travel/car (Pioneer possibly), looking for some direction how to get started/ what to think about. I want something that is really really easy, can be accessible around the house, and likely NOT computer based (seems like it's one more thing to break/go wrong/have to manage, but unclear if this is possible especially with the portable) I have no view on Budget but I've seen a number of products from Naim etc, that appear to be CD rippers and storage. If it can rip SACDs great, if not, I'll deal with standard Red Book. I currently do not use iTunes, or any other music software (we are fully disc based) and I don't believe in "the cloud" for myriad reasons. Currently have a few hundred CDs, but would rather have more space than less.
