Oh how I wish Class D amps ...

I sure wish manufacturers and designers would move forward as quickly as is possible on improving the current status of Class D amps ... I have heard them all, some in my own system, and they have SO mcu promise !!! Unfortunately they just do not have it down yet. They still sound dry, unmusical, and strange in the treble ... kind of chalky and rolled off, and definitely lacking air.
I long for the day I can get rid of my hundred pound Class AB monster amp, for a nice small cool running amp that sounds just as good. I am worried though that designers and manufacturers have accepted the " It sounds good enough" opinion, and that the B&O Ice power may be a long time before it is "fixed"... sigh.
Just my rant ...

Muralguy, so far you have not responded succinctly to the questions asked of who i.e. the impedance concerns (atmasphere's comments) and the ridiculous "none but one solid state preamp will do their best with class D" statement. I know for a fact there are quite a few.

How about addressing specific issues instead of the lightweight "one issue weaves true......." crap.

Might you suggest a preamp that can do better than I have? Perhaps I can get a dealer near here to bring one over for a listen.

I was asked for details of my system. On hindsight I should have directed the query to private messaging.

Audiofeil, I look at my gear and see there is not one item that can be bought in a brick store. Everything is direct ordered, or I made myself. Everything got better when I stopped listening to advice from audio medial. That includes you. -Muralman1

Sure I can.

But components are system dependent and what is "best" in one system is just "good" in another. This is audio 101 but that's ok, you missed that class.

If there was one universal "best" for class d amps, everybody would be using what's in your system.

I can assure you from speaking to customers with systems far more sophisticated than yours, that is not the case.

Now about that impedance information atmasphere asked for........

If you post on Audiogon, it is only a matter of time until you are de-FEIL-ed. It's a sad fact of life.

Bill is witty. Bill is clever. He usually knows what he is talking about but many of the opinions he offers are colored by his commercial interests.

If you do not concur with whatever he is selling, you will be de-FEIL-ed too. This is the chance you take in having an honest opinion and saying so. I'm sure you know this by now, Muralman. Of course, so do I, but I have just stepped up and invited insults from the de-Feil-er myself.

Does anyone doubt that he will attack me now?
