Preamp Deal of the Century

If anyone is looking for a true "World Class" preamp at a very fair price..heed my advice. I just recieved a Supratek Syrah preamp that was hand built by Mick Maloney in Western Australia, and it is absolutely beautiful! This preamp is the best deal you will ever find. I would put it up against any preamp out there for both looks and sound. Price? $2500 for the Syrah (includes Killer Phono stage). Not into phono? Try the Chardonney line stage for $2100. Don't get me wrong, I am not associated with this company. I am just a very happy owner! This preamp is VERY dynamic, yet liquid. It conveys the sound of music better than any other preamp that I have ever heard! You can check out the Supratek website at www. cantech.net.au

I would like to know that too. Given the proportion of sales to the numkber of recent used ones for sale, like a spat, there seems to be something going on, maybe...

Are people getting the Supra and finding out its not for them? Let's hear the negative with the positive, if any. Fair is fair.
But please notice that they are selling it almost in full retail price!! So what is a deal in buying it (besides that you do not have to wait).
The deal might be if it is in as new condition you won't be running the risk of having it damaged during shipping i.e. some monkey in Customs repacking it like a 9 year old stuffing his toy box as Mom is screaming "Have you cleaned your room yet?" OUCH!!

For a practically brand new piece that has a 6 month wait paying full retail or close isn't a bad deal, is it?
I can comment on one of these sales as I recently purchased a Cortese that was listed here. The seller had bought the Cortese back in August, waited 4 or 5 months for delivery, then spent some time comparing it to another (much more expensive) preamp in his system. He decided he liked the other one a little better and listed the Cortese here. I was happy to pay close to full price to avoid the wait and import duties, so the deal worked out well for both of us. I haven't spent a lot of time with it yet so I'm hesitant to comment on the sound, but my initial impression is that it's every bit as good as this thread leads you to believe.

I think the long lead-time involved in getting Suprateks just naturally leads to a few new ones being listed here. People find something else, or relocate, or downsize their system, etc. before the Supratek shows up. I doubt this implies anything negative about the quality or value of the product.
auido gears come and go, it is normal. same with Supratek.
I will be very pleased to hear some different perspective on this preamp, particularly from these people want to sell it. Group Think sometimes apply among audiophiles.
