Schiit Yggdrasil DAC, why did they change it ?

For Moonwatcher,  I have the Bifrost 2/64, and my hearing also rolls off at about 12.5 to 13 kHz.  I love the Bifrost, although the only other DAC I have experience with are those in my iPad Pro, the AQ Cobalt Dragonfly, and the ESS DAC in my Schiit Jotunheim.  Perhaps due to my hearing loss, I don’t notice a roll-off.  My  LPs—such as Sheffield LPs of the 1980s do sound more “brilliant” when the appropriate content is there, but the Bifrost, IMO, does a very good job.  I am particularly pleased with the imaging/soundstage (both lateral and depth) and tonal qualities of the instruments.as reproduced by my Rogue RP-7 tube preamp, Odyssey Kismet (upgraded almost to Kismet) SS monobloc amps, and Fyne F-702 speakers, augmented by a pair of Rythmik F12 subwoofers.  I’ve considered stepping up to the Yggdrasil MIB, but I wonder how much improvement I would get for three times the price.

heading to Capital Audiofest this weekend and plan on auditioning several DACs. Not sure the Yggy will be there, but do know Geshelli Labs will be there, very interested in hearing the different versions of their Dayzee. I've been researching the Yggy, Dayzee and the LTA Aero. I'll listen to a bunch of others, will be hard to really tell due to all of these will be running different systems in different rooms, but I hope to determine their nature and help me decide which one I will order for home trials. Should be a fun weekend.

I have tested some old Wadia X64.4 and WT3200 transport connected via AT&T
They have a wonderful sound, especially the "weight" and "body" in the mid range. They are transparent, too, to the source (cds).
It seems that the music is alive.

What do you think would sound the Yggy MIB compared to the Wadia?

Does the Yggy have a particular sound signature?

I took my Yggi+ OG to my friend’s house to hear the new speakers he is building (I am now buying, wow). He loved the OG DAC and will be taking it to a Colorado headphone event in December on my behalf. I asked one of the organizers to compare my Yggi+ OG with the great DACs that will be showing up to the event.

The main reason is that these people will for the most part be listening to the RAAL 1995 Immanis and Magna phones at the event. I will be buying one of the 2 phones ASAP and I want to figure out if I should buy a second OG or convert my existing Less Is More to the More Is Better, which is close to the OG sound

I have 0 interest in any other DAC. The Yggi+ OG is endgame for me. ANYONE WANT TO SELL A YGGI+ OG?

I am so impressed by Schitt. I am going to advertise to sell my expensive headphone amp this weekend. It will easily go for about $5.5k and it will be replaced by a $450 used Schitt Aegir amp connected to a $1200 Schitt Mjolnir v3 preamp. This will allow me to buy maybe the best headphone in the world. I have been doing a head-to-head comparison between the 2 stacks, and I am not going to have an issue selling the expensive headphone amp.

The Aegir v1 | Mjolnir v3 are not reference level gear but given the price and how close it can get to top end gear is very impressive.

Does the Yggy have a particular sound signature?

No sound to it. If you want sound from a Yggi+ then try the Less Is More which is a bit rolled off on top and makes people say it is musical. I liked the LIM with my Magnepan LRS+.

Systems #2 and #3 are in the office and use the single Yggi+ LIM. Love the fact that it has 3 outputs. I currently have all 3 used with the soon to be sold heaphone amp also connected.
