speaker tweaks

i was reading a mapleshade catalog, and in one of the free tweaks sections, it said to clip off the plastic phase ring in front of your tweeter, and one would experience up to 100% improvement in highs, has anyone tried this?, i haven't built up the guts to try it yet. thanks.

I think first I would try replacing the screws that hold your drivers with brass screws. Brass will absorb the virbrations better then wood or metal screws. Cheap tweak, and can be changed back. Any hardware will have brass screws.
