@dabel , lot of changes in my world. Changed job, changing home, some family issues, lost a couple of friends, etc. Normal stuff, but just hit all at once. My wife mentioned over the weekend that I haven’t been listening to music like I normally do and she was wondering why. Just too many distractions with all the other changes. Need to find time to listen more. I do appreciate you checking in.
Tune of the Day
"Blue Rondo a la Turk" on the Two Generations of Brubeck album. Wow.
There are many fine versions of this tune, but this one gets me dancing, clapping, fist-pounding, whatever, every time....and it's not easy to dance in, what, 9/8? I love tunes that grow, build, develop, and move through changes. This one just picks me up and takes me right along with it. Great melding of jazz and rock idioms, too. It's fun to imagine Dave Brubeck setting the groove and then sitting back to hear where his kids and their friends take it.
You can continue exploring Dave and the kids on Two Generations of Brubeck, "The Great Spirit Made Us All". And Chris Brubeck's rock/jazz band Sky King on "Secret Sauce".
For extra credit, give a "spin" to Chase, "Bochawa" from their last album, Pure Music.
Anyway, that's my two cents today.

That is an awful lot of changes all at once @femoore12, that surely explains why. I’m so sorry for your loss, and somewhat feel your pain. A little over one week ago my Mississippi family had blown up my cell, 33 year old niece passed away. Flying out Thursday for a Sunday Funeral Service. Hang in there my friend, and again, my sincere condolences. |
That is sad news @dabel. Really sorry to read about your niece. I appreciate the kind words. I will be posting again soon. Way too much music out there that I haven’t heard yet. |
Thank you @femoore12. Looking forward on listening in. Throw down some tracks when you're ready ... gotta long way to go on catching up with that there Turntable Thread :-) |
