Turntable mat options

I'm happy with my Rega RP8/Apheta 2, but am rethinking the standard issue felt mat and would appreciate the group's thoughts: should I sit tight, use no mat at all, or consider something different? Thanks, Chip

Last night I was experimenting with some of my various mats and to me the difference in SOME mats was very audible, others not so much.
My Victor tt-81 prefers a hard mat like acrylic or an old 78.
My Garrard 401 likes slightly softer like a lead & cork hybrid I have.
Then I introduced a new mat , MyMat, made by a member here and yet again I could hear a difference.

But of course must be my poor tonearms, cartridges and ears.
Or maybe my imagination?
😉😉
@uberwaltz...........just what is MyMat and who makes it?  It has been mentioned a few times and I am unfamiliar with it.
@stereo5

The MyMat is my product. If you're interested, send me a PM with any questions. Thanks for your interest.
@Mijostyn,

"If the mat has a sound to it" is an ignorant way to approach what’s going on. It may just be a mat is allowing what was previously unavailable regarding SQ.
Mijostyn, Please tell me: Since you cannot play a record without a cartridge and tonearm, how would you ever know when a cartridge and tonearm have "no sound".  Compared to what?  Or do you have the power to look at the groove patterns and thereby hear the music in its purest form?
