I've owned one for two years -- no operational problems whatsoever. Sonically, I would say it's comparable to or better than players listing at up to about $1300 new. Has a very delicate, transparent sound; not "harsh" or "digital." Most people think the Theta Miles sounds a little better. But, new, the Theta was nearly twice as expensive; and used prices should reflect that differential, especially since Ultech is out of business. My advice -- if your budget is about $500, you should be able to get a good used Ultech. Verify that it's in complete working condition!!! Some users have reported a logic problem that makes the player totally unusuable -- won't initialize or read the TOC of the disc. This appears to show up in the first year of ownership. At this price, you can't beat the Ultech and it will be leagues better than your Yamaha. If your budget (used) is higher -- like $700 - $1000, you can do better.

CAN SOMEONE TELL ME WHAT KIND OF EXPERIENCE YOU HAD WITH THIS PARTICULAR BRAND OF PLAYER, AND WHAT WOULD YOU RATE ITS OVERALL PERFORMANCE, SOUND QUALITY AND PRICE WITH OTHER LEADING BRANDS, IM LOOKING FOR A REPLACEMENT FOR MY YAMAHA THATS 8 YEARS OLD. IM ALSO INTERESTED IN THE THETA MILES. PLEASE COMMENT ON THAT ONE TOO. WHICH ONE OF THESE WOULD YOU PICK OUT OF THE TWO, CONSIDERING PRICE ALSO. THANKS CHUCK.
