Unsung Heroes ... The Dregs.
Very interesting. Discogs lists this album as by the Dixie Dregs . My copy just says The Dregs on cover and label but it is also a white label promo so maybe that is right where they changed from the Dregs to The Dixie Dregs.
The Avid/Rega/Cadenza Black?
Fast, smooth, articulate, detailed, accurate.
Not quite as much Bass weight and authority as the 401 But now one starts to ponder how much of that is due to the difference in drives ... belt vs idler. |
Well I got bored earlier this week and have a new TT sitting on the rack right now. Have just been working with drrsutliff on getting it set up, thank you sir!!š
Avid Diva SP, Rega RB303, Ortofon Black Cadenza.
We concur that the Rega arm is the weak link here so there maybe a change there after I have tweaked it to see if any more resolution to be had.
Don't get me wrong it is very good but better than my 401? Probably not right now.
ButĀ wanted to try a decent belt drive out again...... |
Thanks Boxer.
Future Shock .... Herbie HancockĀ |
Whitesnake 1987.
Why canāt i get that vision of Tawny Kitaen out of my mind.......
Here I go again! |
In the eye of the Storm ... Roger Ā Hodgson. |
On the Edge .... The Baby's.
Really nice SQ |
Slaw.
The Avid is NOT bought to replace anything, the 401 is going nowhere.
It was a stupid cheap price and why not was my thought. An extravagant purchase maybe but itās only money š“. Lol.
My fall project is now to build a new rack that is a doublewide so both the Avid and the 401 can sit on top in all their glory.
I needed something to use some of the carts anyway.
I appreciate your concerns my friend but I think I know what I am doing...famous last words.
|
Never ever got to see UFOšš.
Did See MSG twice though so Schenker And Way at their prime.
Obsessions ..... UFO. |
whatās the frequency Kevin ???? I might have to ask Mal...... |
Colours ..... The Resurrection Band.
Slaw, still nothing?? |
Taproot Manuscript is the only Diamond LP in my collection and I must admit I quite like it. I think in my case it's more just finding some good albums of his to listen to. |
Slaw Pm heading your way soon!
Yes that little Rega is an overachiever itself. Not much original left about it... Lol He made a real good job of sandwiching the original plinth between two MDF boards and then veneer. Plus he added an IEC at the back and on/off switch so can use any PC with it. And the arm is rewired with cardas wire and a 5 pin din plug so can use any phono cable too.
It's a keeper....yes I know, famous last words!š |
Yw my friend!
Unfortunately the Post is truly messed up in Florida. I believe Jim sent me care package too but nothing yet arrived.ā¹ļø
But a line that stuck in my head from one of my fave sci-fi type movies.
You can't stop the signal! |
I'm having a tape kind of day. My last job lot contained tapes I had never heard and are proving to be most enjoyable. Listening to Chilliwack right now who I had never even heard of never mind heard. Most pleasant! |
Enough tapes for now.
Fire up the little Rega.
Blues for Night People .... Charlie Byrd.
Nice original Mono recording. |
Gaudi ..... Alan Parsons Project.
Very Nice SQ... as most Parsons albums are. |
Slaw I was very sure it was with same email I gave you. My email went somewhere....šš
Its a conspiracy!!
Brian got my email and vice versa.
Most peculiar. |
Love that Doobies album Slaw!
In fact on Discogs there is an article on the Doobies from their early days to now. It's an interesting read. |
Or it could have been a big discussion on mono switches occurred within a thread in the analog section, can't say as I remember exactly, sorry.
But I do remember a few switch options mentioned for sure.
And Slaw has a valid point that could be worth more than the cost of the upgrade in potential SQ. $200+$100? for ic? |
Greg Yep, been there, done that. All of my collection is in discogs starting with visual grading and updated with actual play grade once I had played it again. Just takes time brother! |
I guess you all kinda missed the point or I was not clear. 3" and 2" were the FINAL changes in position, NOT a jump all at one go. I know you think I am reckless at times but jeez....... Even I can figure out the small steps in between. Time consuming but worthwhile. Look back at what I first stated, the Spatials were just dumped in same position the Maggies had been without giving them any placement changes at all...until today |
|
Greg. Bit of an AC/DC day?
I just us cleaned Fly on the Wall, probably give it a spin later. |
Miller.
WTF is wrong with you? Still having extreme difficulty comprehending the written word it seems.
And you accuse me of making false assumptions?? Pathetic.
Every part of your diatribe was based on you making some distorted false assumption.
And for the record I have no idea how many times you may have stated something because unlike yourself apparently I am not a stalker.
I will be blunt.
You are a festering sore in this community.
Peace. |
Brian I can't remember exactly where but it was fairly recent in the analog forum there was a discussion on mono switches. I know there were a lot of options discussed with various device's mentioned. |
Scoop ..... Pete Townshend
Very dissapointed in this set. Best songs on it are the ex-Who ones but in front of the mic you quickly realize Townshend ain't no Daltrey!! It's saving grace is it's NM and recorded well but probably going to the cull pile. Shame as I usually really like Pete's work. |
Thirty Seconds over Winterland .... Jefferson Airplane. |
Something's Happening .... Peter Frampton. |
Think the Pony Express took a left turn at the Florida State line by mistake! |
Jim Waiting for the Pony Express.....not so much of a buzz....lmao |
European Concert Recordings by Ambassador Satch...... Louis Armstrong and his All Star Band.
Courtesy of Tomic in the care package today!
Very nice recording. |
Jim Like I said I think when the pony hit the Fl/Ga state line he turned left instead of right. But I am not surprised, yesterday I received an album that was shipped August 1st, from Indiana to me. It went to Ohio, then back to Indiana, then back to Ohio, then three locations in Pa, then NC, then to Jax. |
Sounds good Brian I hope they play ok! Enjoy. |
Distant Satellites .... Anathema.
British modern prog Rock, similar to Spock's Beard and the Pineapple Thief. |
The Color Before the Sun ..... Coheed and Cambria.
LTD clear vinyl edition. |
Tomic Do you have a link to that preorder on Amazon as I do not see anything? |
Reubent! Thought you had left the country...lol How goes the war! |
Exactly as your thought bdp24.......
"The 3 LP 140g edition contains the original 1994 Wildflowers album (remastered) with 15 tracks on two LPs. LP 3 contains All The Rest, the 10 songs from the Wildflowers sessions that were left off the album, 5 of which are previously unreleased. "
|
Plenty of orders in already then for the 3lp set it seems. Think Greg any myself did at same time...lol |
|
No work trip would be worthwhile without a new record store and newtome vinyl!!
Revival Records in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. Great selection of new vinyl at very fair prices. Used vinyl not so great selection and pricing a little high IMHO. However picked up 4 classic rock albums that I have NOT seen in a store before so be too late tonight but will clean tomorrow morning and spin tomorrow night. Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Alice Cooper and Little Feat. |
Very odd comment Slaw.
Surely if I am not playing any vinyl then I will not be posting on the turntable thread? Nothing sinister. And have been extremely busy with real life past few days and work and more work..... I do not follow any threads nowadays except my own. Been streaming and playing tapes so.....
|
Just sad........
Sayonara. |
Its a sickness There is no cure
Matthews, NC, nice little record store called Noble Records. I have no idea where $154 went, honestly. Oh wait, oh yes, another pile of records....... |
Live by Hot Tuna was their first album I believe. I have a copy on tape and it is likely my best recording, the SQ is off the charts and some of the details are astounding, like the glass being dropped and broken in between track 3 and 4 (or 2 and 3?).
Whatever it is a phenomenal album and still my fave Hot Tuna cut. |
Total haul of 31 new albums netted from this trip to Matthews....lol. Home late tomorrow and start on US cleaning of them Sat morning along with knocking items off the honey dew list of course. At least once they are in the cleaner there is 30 minutes to do other tasks.
Looking forward to spinning a few records Sat evening with a glass of well deserved Baileys! |
Roger Waters - The Pros And Cons Of Hitch Hiking (Harvest 1984)
One of the best albums ever made. Stunning sound quality.
At last, someone who does not think that Amused to Death is his best album, it might be best sound effects album but not MUSIC. IMHO of course! |
Not heard that one Greg. The three i got were all early ones. Chicken Skin Music and Into the Purple Valley were the other two.
Right now.
I love Rock,n,Roll .... Joan Jett.
Tbh I always thought Lita Ford was the better "half" of The Runaways.
|
A Curious Feeling.... Tony Banks.
Really well recorded imho. |
Alright I see there was some Alice Cooper, Jerry Garcia, Judas Priest, Humble Pie, Soul Asylum, The Pineapple Thief.
If something along those lines Jim, shoot me a PM!
Just seen your post Slaw, I would agree! |
