I meant to mention Paul Motian in that post. Woops
musical drummers...who are they ???
Another jazz drummer... but he has some of the biggest ears of any drummer I have heard. To me, a musical drummer can lay down a groove when needed or add a sense of lyrical conversation to a piece. He can really tell a story. His work with the Bi...
VTA and 180 gram vinyl
Thanks, gang. I think you have talked me down from that tree. To continue the discussion....any mat preferences over the standard issue felt?. FYI, I am currently using a Denon DL-110, and am very happy. Overall, I am happy with the turntable. It ...
BIX TT Won't Hold Speed - Bearing Lube?
I am fairly new to this hobby, but I would like to put something on the table regarding temperature. I would think that after a few hundred revolutions, the bearing would warm enough to make a cool ambient temperature a non-issue. I realize that t...
Denon 103R on a MMF-7

MF X10 Tube Buffer - Tube Rush
I have that same unit, and mine is quiet...really quiet. You may have a bad tube. I also use it between the source and the pre-try that. Could be a grounding issue too. Any lights on that electrical line?
When is digital going to get the soul of music?
I recently purchased the Bill Evans Trio's "Waltz for Debbie" on CD. It has to be one of the best live recordings of that famous trio I have heard. It was recorded live at the Village Vanguard, and you hear people coughing, glasses clinking, and c...
Powering off vs leaving on
Update- I called John Hillig at Musical Design, the manufacturer (dont know why I didnt think of that earlier). He said that he leaves his on, unless there is a big thunderstorm looming. Anyway...the D-150B is a great amp for my Thiel CS2.4. Plent...
Powering off vs leaving on
The amp is solidstate. I dont't believe it produces excessive heat.
