In my workshop I can stream Tidal from my iPhone to an Airport Express and use its optical output to connect to an Audioengine D1 DAC. The analog output from the DAC goes to a DIY amp and its speakers. It works quite well and sounds great.
Airport Express > Modi Multibit > Integrated Amp
Has anyone tried this?…..Does it seem like it would bring a noticeable improvement in SQ?
This would be for a workshop system consisting of a NAD C 316 BEE V2 feeding a pair of Klipsch RP 600Ms. I’m streaming Tidal from my iPhone into this setup using the Airport Express alone presently.
I’d be connecting AE to DAC via optical. I suppose I could just do the 15 day return thing and see for myself but have been getting nickled-and-dimed to death on a tighter than usual budget of late and wondered if anyone might’ve already tried this combo.
Thanks in advance!
