Amp and preamp for dq10s

I have a McIntosh 2205 powering them now and feel there is something missing. Any thoughts on a powerful unit 200 watts a channel with great mid and high with solid base. My taste in music is jazz and acoustic guitar easily driven music. The room is 12x15 but open to kitchen and hallway . Ceilings are 8ft
thanks for your thoughts.

Back when I had DQ10s, I had been runing them with a pair of tube DYNA Mk 3 amps ( about 60w/ch)....the only amp I had.  The sound was OK....( what did i know?)  Classical music sounded gentlmanly.

THEN one day a buddy brought over a modded Hafler 500 amp. Man, did that speaker wake up and howl at the moon !!   .  I heard Beethoven, Mozart, Liszt, Stravinsky (especially) like they meant their music to be heard.    So yes, LOTS of strong, big-heavy power supply transformer, current-rich POWER !!
The Odyssey is not vintage per we but is a lovely amp and one I would strongly recommend along with others mentioned, we often paired them back in the day with Hafler gear, ditch the piezo supertweeter !!!
Back in the day a very good friend went the DQ10 route. He "joined the club" so to speak and powered them with a GAS Son of Ampzilla, had the crossover mods done, bought a set of custom stands, then went whole hog with double DQ10's and doubled the Son of Ampzillas. These mods turned the Dahlquists into a quite formidable system for their time.

I sometimes wonder what his kids did with this system after he passed away.
