Amps suggestions for ATC scm 40 mk2

Hello all,

Firstly, I know some of you will say that if it is atc go with active, but ı went for passives because of money. Anyway, I have hegel h160, 150 watts into 8 ohm loads, it is generally good, but in some tracks which has especially high dynamic range ones, i feel it lacks some power to drive 85 db speakers. I know atc loves lots of  power, so i m waiting for your suggestions. my budget is about 3k$. By the way I can use hegel h160 as a preamp, with a new power amplifier or a new integrated. Thanks.

ATC and Hegel can work very well together. But, you're correct, the H160 or the H190 integrated don't bring the SCM40's to life. But, the H360 integrated does. The H360 also has a sonic signature that for me definitely works better with ATC than the H160. The H20 power amp drives them very well too.
My ATC's (40's but the rare HTS style) sound fabulous driven by a pair of the Red Dragon Audio M100 mk. II Monoblocks. Loads of clean power. The ATC's can really deliver with those!
Thanks for all suggestions and comments. I definitely like hegel sound signature, but h160 a bit underpowered for atc’s. if ı can find hegel h360 or h20 as a second hand, I can buy it. Also, I found primare a32 power amplifier and pre30 for 3k$, they are 250 watts into 8 ohms, anyone tried these?
