Anyone used carbon aero laminates for shelving?

Having followed the many threads regarding shelving materials, it seems many members are of the opinion that rigid/light design offers good results in many situations. One can purchase aero industry laminate panels of balsa/carbon fiber which would seem to offer good potential. Gibson guitars uses balsa as a reinforcing block material in semi-hollow body instruments for what that might be worth. Anyone used a material like this? It's not cheap, but it's not as expensive as Black Diamond carbon fiber shelving either.
