aptX HD (or LDAC) dongle/headphone for iphone X

I know a dongle is needed to be able to connect an aptX HD compatible headphone to the iphone.  There seems to be one made by Creative model: BTW4.

My questions are:

- I hear that some (not all) users of this dongle experience a terrible crackling noise (like clipping) with it.  If you have used one, what has been your experience ?

- Is there a good under $150 aptX HD compatible headphone with a good frequency response ?  Sony seems to be recommended but it just seems a little too expensive.  Besides, I do NOT need the noise cancelling feature.  When the wife is screaming, I need to be able to hear :-)
