I have thoroughly enjoyed making playlists from these suggestions. I'll add a few of my own.
I see Ginger Baker is somewhat controversial but I didn't see these so I'll list them. I really like his work with Charlie Haden and Bill Frisell. I guess I like that "off beat" sound and tend to gravitate to drummers that are not just there to keep the beat.

- Royal Crown Review/Mugz's Move/Topsy
A while back I went looking for drum music and discovered The Drummers of Burundi and
Babatunde Olatunji. It can get a little monotonous at times but with all the chanting I feel like I'm sitting around some hot, dusty sacrificial fire pit on the African Savanna.
- The Drummers of Burundi/The Drummers of Burundi
- Babatunde Olatunji/Drums of Passion
Finally, the album Swamp Sally has some great percussion from Minu Cinelu. Nothing mind blowing here. Just relaxing and sultry. I love it when percussion moves beyond just drums.
- Kenny Barron and Mino Cinelu / Swamp Sally / Moondance
Let's get this going again!
